Huge congratulations to you all burtha, the most fantastic news!

Congrats also to the stiltys, hopefully fast asleep now in their new home, hope you will all be very happy there.

welcome to nursemaggie, lovely to meet you :)

(((((((((((((((((Possession))))))))))))))))) how sad for you but don't feel guilty you have done what's best for the dog and your family. You had no other choice. Have another hug x

((((((((((((CC))))))))))) - that silly woman probably spoke without thinking but I would have felt as you do I'm sure. Money is useful and important of course but cannot be compared to people. On a practical note, glad you won't have money worries - one less area of life to cause difficulty when you have bigger things to think about.

What an afternoon I've had. Tried to cram too many things in before school run so was a bit stressed. Managed to leave front door key indoors and then shut door eeeek. Had phone, car keys etc with me so not too bad. Off to another secondary school open eve with no address, directions.

Stop off at library to drop off books to save about 40p on a fine (WISHED I HADN'T BOTHERED HA BLIDDY HA), new smaller parking space with low metal posts. Horrible crunching noise, expletives, smashed light cover and various scrapes, small dent etc.

Collect kids, drive to secondary school (12 miles away) driving illegally (very naughty SQ) with dodgy light cover. DH (coming from work by train) gave me school postcode as had also left address and diections inside) but turned out to be a different school??? Antiquated sat nav and owner didn't cope well with one ways etc. Eventually when we seemed to have driven down every possible combination of roads, could see the right school but not how to access the road due to traffic systems. Yelled out of window at poor passing school boys (of said school) to help. They were obviously used to assisting frazzled scatty women as they gave superb directions.

Did the whole school thing including separate talks for parents and year 5s which panicked DS10. Just in nick of time we spotted the only other kid from his school attending so he went in with him. Bumped into an ex-friend - awful person whom DH actually banned from our home!!! DH marched on with kids so I had no need to think up an excuse about why she couldn't have my new mobile number!

Home hours later to find key wouldn't turn. Frazzled scatty woman has left her key on the inside of the door and not in the hall as I thought. Next door donated a wire hanger which we tried in vain to hook key in the rain (kids watching TV happily with lovely neighbour) Locksmith summoned, 5 second job, £130 bill!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Oh well only figures on a bank statement and inconvenience getting car fixed. DH getting his job, us being healthy and happy as a family - nothing else at all matters much( other than our animals and people we care about too) This is what I am telling myself anyway!

Crumbs SQ, we're all in the wrong jobs obviously. £130 per 5 secs seems a bit steep. However I suspect it's a bit like the plumber who cured a blocked pipe by hitting the cistern. When the householder queried the cost of £100 he was given a bill that said,

    Thumping the tank.........................£5.00
Knowing where to thump the tank....£95.00

Welcome nursemaggie. If you are planning on reading right through the thread we'll hear from you again sometime after Christmas. At least you will know all about us by the time you have caught up, even if you are slightly out of breath. Well done on the knitting. I also find that when I've been knitting for a while I'm starting to get pain in my thumb joint but I dread having to give up. What do people do when they are watching TV if they don't knit, crochet or sew?
Don't answer that Hester, nursemaggie doesn't know us that well yet.

CC. What a crass remark to make. Well done on your response. As my old Granny used to say, " A closed mouth gathers no feet." Glad that the pensions are sorted out though, you deserve something to go right for you.

off to bed now and I can join all the other red spots.

Wanted to finish the magazine tonight but there's only another 4 pages to go so I'll do it in the morning.

SQ that all sounds rather stressful!

    Morning all

Nursemaggie - Welcome to the thread :) Glad you've found your knitting mojo again. The yarn in Wil kin sons is well priced and crochets/knits up lovely....they've just changed all their colours too so a nice range of them available.

Possession - You're doing the right thing, I do understand the guilt feeling, that's part of being a responsible owner - huge hugs to you x

Burtha - Congrats on the granddaughter! Any idea on names yet?

SQ - Sounds a bit chaotic at yours - hope you manage an easier day today.

It's been a bit full on here the past few days, lots of lovely things (cos it was my birthday) so strawberry picking, had lunch in a lovely riverside pub, lots of people popping in and DD's have been very busy here there and everywhere. Quite looking forward to a quiet weekend.

DD1 and BF are off to his schools leaves ball tonight so more dressing up and fiddling with hair and pretties - he gave her a gorgeous corsage last night to match her dress - she was one very happy girlie. She's wearing red velvet dress, he's wearing a blue velvet suit...I've told them to stay at least 3 feet away from each other or they'll be causing sparks and static!

OS wise - nope - nothing. I need to really get my backside in gear and start being a bit more savvy as it seems to have slipped lately.

A good morning to you all :D - smilies back, could have done with them yesterday  The locksmith had a special hook to get key out easily. DH asked if you could buy them and the locksmith said everyone asks that! I bed you can get them somewhere but if police find one on you.........

I have the kids home today with school closed so planning to stay put after yesterday. DS10 has a friend over whom I was going to collect but going to ask if his mum could drop him instead and see if I can take the car in to garage tomorrow.

Pooky your DD's dress sounds gorgeous and her DB in contrasting velvet awwww. What a sweetie buying the corsage too. Hope they have a fab time.
Burtha, thanks for update on DD and little one, early days (day 1!!) and things will get gradually easier. Hope you all have a more restful day today.

I lost a post earlier when I was startled by the police looking for the neighbour yet again. They didn't use the ram this time, seem to have chiselled in otherwise and then all left very quickly with no ambulance. Must not have been serious, thank goodness. Although last time they carted him off in the ambulance and he was home again just a few short hours later. I suppose they don't have the resources to keep him if he says he isn't going to harm himself. The police wanted to know if I knew anything-ha. I know plenty, but nothing that will tell them if he's in trouble this time or just needs to see someone. It must cost the city a fortune, and it makes me sad that its come to this--with police around every few weeks answering distress calls but nothing really being done to give the man help. But then, I think when they do try to help with the mental help he goes back to the drugs and the drink so not much they can do I suppose.

Anyway, wanted to offer a welcome to nurse Maggie, hugs to Burtha, a pat on the back for SQ--wish I could keep things in perspective like you! and apologies if I've forgotten anyone else's posts.

Oh Fairy, poor man and how stressful for you and neighbours. Life is so unfair for some people.

Well I am keeping things in perspective (partly thanks to ADs methinks ;) ) BUT need a quick NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!

just booked car in for tomorrow, they are ordering a whole new light casing. £170 add that to locksmiths £130 and £300 cost due me loosing concentration. I know, I know only human, we all make mistakes so not beating myself up but £300 is more than our holiday cottage this summer, more than DS10's residential trip next year. Am I allowed to weep, just quietly in the corner...

House is a tip, none of us dressed and DS10's friend round soon and its raining. 3 excitable boys in the house.... wish me luck!

sq you have me shattered catching up on the last 24 hours. Be kind to yourself and weep no more.

nursemaggie I second the website ravelry... although a crocheter and a veeeeeery slow learning knitter.

Trials this morning included rescuing a trapped starling from behind a fire then seeing it safely out of the front door - I adore birds but get panicky when I am enclosed and they are flapping. At least I gave me lady a laugh, especially especially as apparently I swore when it flew out! Oh dear.

My neighbour has entered the garden contest so I need to clean my windows for her although she has won it when our house was in a less the acceptable state. Wish her luck!

Tea is cheats pizza, salad and potato salad as we have eldest DD's summer fair at 5pm. I do have eggs and bread to use up so at some point today I want to get a bread and butter pudding going for the girls' supper.

Having just had my cheese and tomato sandwich I am off out for the last 30 minute call until Monday morning. Boy do I love the Friday feeling!

Saturday is consisting of ealry breakfast of tea and bacon sandwiches, trip to library to pick up last Harry Potter book for eldest and an itailian cook book for me, a wander down to the green to watch youth in music project then on to the market for fruit and veg. What we will do after that remains to be seen.

Catch you all later and welcome nursemaggie :) Please stay :D
