Cake lasts two days in your house??? I'm lucky if it gets to cool down round here before DH is tucking into it.

Haha. yes, it usually takes 3-4 days between the two of us. It helps OH isn't here during the day and we usually have fruit for pudding as well. I also prefer to eat most things warm and stick to smaller slices/will skip it after my initial pig out. Some things go faster than others-loaf cakes last longer than cookies or fairy cakes. I think its that it takes a moment to cut a slice:rotfl:

Congratulations! Enjoy your new addition to your family :)

Stiltwalker congratulations on your new place. I hope you enjoy organising your new space and that happy times can be found there. :)

An OS break for me today as I took my crochet... if any of the girls saw me  I'll be in a for a right ribbing. :rotfl:

I managed to get my front lawn cut just before school pickup. It didn't really need it but I wanted to do it out of courtesy for my neighbour as I think she's entered the community gardening competition this weekend.

I don't think we are going far this weekend after all as the weather isn't great. Instead we plan to go to the market for the fruit and veg then walk around the locality. I feel I need a bit of exercise as weight loss has all but stopped.

We're off the Lidl tonight to stock up.

Tea is sausage, mash, roasted carrots and yorkshires with a bit gravy.

Need a container to store crackers/cheese biscuits. Ordinarily I would buy a tub of ice cream and then use that but my freezer doesn't have room. I think I might have to buy a container instead. Boy does that hurt :rotfl:

Funny thing about living Doon Suth is it gets dark early! I am crocheting by the rechargeable lamp at 9.30pm in the height of summer.

Reminds me - candles. Must stock up!

Stilty: I am sooooo envious. It must be marvellous to have the move behind you and enjoy getting to know your new life. All best wishes for a glorious future and lots of walks - to the shops as long as you don't buy something every time you go.

    Back to the editing!

SW , glad your all settled in your new home. X

Well, my news . Pensions have finally been sorted, I had a letter from them to say they are giving me a lump sum as DH was guaranteed his pension for ten years but only drew a year of it, it's a nice amount, enough to either pay 2 /3 of my mortgage or for me to invest in a buy to let. I will make an appointment to see a financial adviser next week. And discuss my options, I don't have any other debt except the mortgage. But have hired a company to redo my loft insulation in a few weeks, so that's done before winter.
The funny thing is, I will now have a comfortable income. There is more money in my bank at the moment then I have had in my entire life, yet I still brought the paper with the voucher and used it when I did my monthly shop lol.
On the subject of toxic friends. One of mine asked how I was doing, I mentioned the money, she said oh you lucky thing wish I had that Now a few months ago I would have just smiled politely. But not now. I told her she could have every damn penny. If she could bring my husband back.. She stammered something, but by then I had turned around and left the shop.

Anyways . Need to get an early night, as I have a 6 am shift tomorrow. No rest for the wicked hey.
Big hugs and zen drinks around . X C C

Cc good for you girl, money isnt a replacement for people  I do hope you find something to fill the hours between work, my Mum always said' the problem is you don't have anyone to tell you forgot the tomatoes' My dad left her with £6 debt - last payment on the microwave and that must have really annoyed him.

Had a bit of a lousy day with things going wrong but as long as we are all still standing I can cope with anything. Managed to get out for an hour to see friends down the road and have a coffee and a laugh while Oh slept - so nice to see people in RL. I was on pins but could have run home in 2 minutes if he needed me.

One good thing, my 48 teeny weeny lavender plants arrived today - 4 varietys and all I paid was £5 postage. The package was so small it fitted through the letterbox :rotfl:

    Hi Everyone,

Been lurking on all the OS forums. I really like this one you are all so friendly. I have been reading from the beginning so I am still catching up on all your news from last year. Was glad to see last night that all cats safe and well.

I have been dying to pass this on but did not know where. Did you know if you Google Free Knitting Patterns you will find thousands of them. I gave up knitting about 10 years ago. Partly the cost was more than buying and I was finding it painful due to my arthritis.

A couple of years ago during the summer I picked up a new had knitted sweater in White. It was very big and very think and I thought it would come in useful to put over the top of other clothes to save on heating. I put it away and forgot all about it.

We moved North in March and I found it when packing. Was glad I left it handy as I needed it the first few days as it takes a while for a house that has been empty for months in the winter to get warm. I put the sweater on and it had huge bat wings as sleeves. They came down below my waist. As I am only 4ft 9in I looked ridiculous. I unpicked the sleeves sewed up a bit more of the side seams. It is fine without the sleeves as it now has little cap sleeves and I can do things in it.

While I have been reading your posts I have knitted the sleeves into a hoodie for my grandson who is 1 years old today. I bought some yarn and have knitted him another. I often see new hand knits in charity shops going very cheap. I guess because they are not liked and were presents. I am going to look around CS through the summer to give me something to kit again. I really missed it and surprise, surprise it has not hurt my hands at all. Because I gave up knitting I did get rid of thousands of patterns. Now I have as many again for free.

    Can I join you please?

The right response CC but I suspect she spoke without thinking, she thought of the money and how it would help without realising the cost involved for you and yours :(

Good to see you nursemaggie - are you on Ravelry? Oh and have you tried circular needles? I find them easier on my damaged hand/arm.
