  • I've just aquired a very nice new (to me) computer desk courtesy of a lady across the road who had put it out on the pavement with a notice saying FREE PLEASE TAKE!!! I gave her a knock on the door and she was pleased to see someone take it, I'd never spoken to her before and she is really pleasant. Very smart it is too but better than that it's the right height for me to sit at, the old desk gave me a sore shoulder and neck. Old desk has gone to the summerhouse to be a table under the window in there.

I am shattered.. But it's been a good day, I forgot how nice it is to stand outside as the sun comes up and just breath and take a moment. Not that I plan to do it every day mind!!!

MrsL I love surprises like that, today I found some perfect curtains for my landing window, the right colour and size and only £3... And all because I was early for a meeting and stopped at a charity shop I spotted on the way.

Burtha , the best things come to those who wait.. Lol

Mon , you won't know what to do with all your spare time :)

Any way tonight I am going to a free trial of a ju jitsu lesson.. If I like it I may sign up for it'll we will see ...

    Wanna bet?

I have all the things lined up that I was determined to do when I retired. That was 15 years ago and so far the only thing I can cross off the list is to learn to use a computer. That I have done, after a fashion, and see where it's got me! Wasting hours of time playing on here. ;)

Pooky: The Drop-in will be just fine. The Churches Together in the area are brilliant and loads of volunteers arrive every week. At Christmas we have nearly more helpers than clients as they all want to give them a good Christmas Day. What I can never make people understand is that, far from being 'do-gooders', we actually get more out of it than the people we are supposed to be helping. I absolutely LOVE my druggie, alcoholic, homeless, skirting on the wrong side of the law, friends. I am going to miss them terribly, especially the ones I have managed to get into a flat and teach them to cook, clean, budget etc. And those who come for a hug every week because no-one hugs them any more. One lovely chap was brought up in care and told me that he never remembered being hugged before he came to the Drop-in. It's such a little thing.
Thank you for asking Pooky, it's kind of you to think of that.

The Rev is now doing things for the "last" time, and every time she does there are tears. Today she did her last Communion service at the Priory and she said she nearly drowned! Tonight she has a church council meeting, and I doubt there will be many tears shed over that.

I am just about to start my last Church Magazine and the only tears being shed for the next week will be mine.

Delurking to say Burtha that's what my dd calls me crazy grandma. My dgs is now 4 weeks old
  • BURTHA we're Oma and Opa, that's the german for Grandma and Grandad. We decided on those so that the Zebra child would know who each of us were individually and his other grandparents are Grandma and Grandad. Hoped it would give him less confusion as he grows up, Lyn xxx.

When my daughter was two, she started calling my MiL "Narnie", which is now used by all the grandchildren.

I have also heard of an "amma"
I wanna be in the room where it happens

    Morning,

There's a poor lady down the road who has four weeks left to go and I keep telling her as it's her first she'll go two weeks over especially if it's a girl :rotfl:

She's the size of a house already so if she gets any bigger her hubby will have to roll her into the garage to sleep. Bless her, she is taking it in good humour but you can tell she's had enough especially when the weather heats up.

The handbrake went on her hubbies car the other day and it rolled into the opposite neighbours car and broke the headlight so that took her mind off the pregnancy for a while ;)

Just a quick good morning and hello. Off to my last counselling session today and feeling a bit unsettled. Wanted to share some brilliant news though. We have found out today that DH has been "matched" for a post at his work (going through 3rd redundancy round) so he has a job. Massive phew! More responsilbilities for the same money but many have been downgraded and new pay will be less so grateful, very grateful. Not sure if it will mean a move of dept, building, boss etc yet though and DH will have to continue to cover 2 jobs until early next year. All seem very minor when your entire family income is at risk.

deep breathes and off out, back later to catch up with you lovely, inspirational bunch
