Free frugal cookbook download here (will be US measurements). http://www.leannebrown.ca/cookbooks
She is crowdsourcing for print publication to start a buy 1 give 1 (to someone who can't afford it) movement, and only printing at all because some of the poorest people don't have access to digital downloads. It seems a worthy initiative.

Hi all, been a busy 2 days here as ive just done full days and with the world cup and ascot its manic. Today is my rest day and so far ive managed a SM shop, 2 loads of washing, hoover and wash floors. Tea is prepared, and now im pooped. With it being humid its even worse.
I got yesterday a brand new headboard from our selling facebook group. They even delivered it to my work place last night. Oh collected it on his way home from work and when I arrived home at 1030pm, there it was all in situe.

I called the local police last night while at work as a group of youths decided to come along and pull out lots of the plant that had been put in only last week. Needless to say they arrived and I left it in their hands. If I had to sort it they would have had to replant it all up and clear up all the rubbish in town with their bare hands. Obviously they have no manners. Annoying x

Well im going to have a rest, will try and pop by later x

  • I'm sorry to hear about break-ins and mindless vandals.
I thought I would pop in with a tale of OS triumph and disaster - well maybe that is a massive exaggeration but anyway....my triumph was a delicious mushroom passanda that I cooked yesterday. I have set myself a challenge to try 2 new recipes a month. It's my own challenge so I am very flexible with my own rules so recipe can be a main course, a cake or whatever I fancy.
So the mushroom passanda was not only delicious, it was cheap - the only extra I had to buy was a small tin of coconut milk. It also used up (as an optional ingredient) the last of a bottle of wine that was in the fridge which was too wine like to throw down the sink but too vinegar like to drink. It was also quick, less than the time to cook the accompanying rice and only used one pan, so not much washing up.
The disaster (or minor blip really) was that last week I was enticed by a beautiful bunch of bright red radishes, complete with their leaves. So I parted with my £1 and then forgot they were in the fridge, cos I never really buy/eat radishes. A few days later, they no longer look so enticing - must learn to resist radishes or succumb to their lure and actually eat them!!
Hope everyone has a nice evening

Fuddle, hope that you enjoyed your bream....lovely fish, but usually too expensive to buy except when on holiday.

Burtha.....baby will arrive in its own time and hopefully all will be well....2 of mine were 14 days overdue and every twitch made me think labour was starting, so know what the wait is like.

McC......barstewards! Very little police can do....I find very few excuses for theft....my knitting group has been displaying teddies we have knitted for charity in our local library where we meetand 3 or4 of them have been stolen....grrr.

Stay safe and well everybody and enjoy the lovely weather

    Just a quicky
NUtty. I would have done the same. If they had to clean up after the mindless violence and vandalism then maybe it would make them think twice.

I am shattered , my first full shift today, brain is at exploding point , learning new care plans and routines and new names..
But on a plus point, only been there for about an hour and quietly pulled up a staff member over some bad practise. The other staff all found a moment to say thank you and to say they are looking forward to working with some one who is proactive and not afraid to pull some one up,, I did remind them that we are all expected to challenge bad practise. So think I need to keep my eyes open and my ear to the ground.
Any way. Shattered so got to water veggys then chill for a bit then bed, back I tomorrow for 7 am.. Not see that for a while.

    Hi.

McC: Sympathies. It's not so much losing 'things' is it? It's more the nasty feeling that your space and privacy has been violated.
My Dad was broken into once while he was on holiday. We all found it very amusing as they could not have found a less productive house to break into. Dad was OS to surpass all other OSers. He didn't believe in changing things. If a chair had four legs and a seat and you could sit on it without falling through, it continued to be used for the next 40 years. He did have an old TV the size and shape of a metal meat safe but nothing that thieves could have got as much as a penny for. In the end the only things that were missing were a few KitKats - Dad's one weakness, and he hoarded them up until they were as ancient as everything else. My cousins often fondly reminisce about visiting him and being offered a KK that bent as you unwrapped it. All in all it was a complete waste of the thieves time and effort. The word must have got round the underworld as he was never bothered again.

Burtha: Hope you don't have to wait too much longer.

Fuddle: WOW. Sea Bream is much sought after I believe. Hope you enjoyed it and ate it with reverence. He's not bad at this fishing lark is he? I reckon you ought to try him on other things. Panning for gold? With his luck he should manage to come up with a nugget or two.

Well, today I cooked my last mammoth church lunch. Home cooked gammon, cheese, egg, salad, HM coleslaw and new potatoes tossed in butter and mint followed by meringues, strawberries and cream. For 60. The Rev asked me if I didn't feel a little bit sad that it would be the last time I did that. Nope.

Next week I write and print my last Church Magazine. Will I feel a little bit sad about that? Nope. Well, just a tad maybe, I do enjoy writing but I can do without the pressure.

This is me, running into old age with lightness of heart and a spring in my step. Bring it on!

Burtha - my DS16 was almost four weeks late (consultant was an idiot!) and still to this day takes his own sweet time doing anything! My theory on babies is that they always arrive at the most inconvenient time possible :) Hope things move along soon

PIC - you have my sympathies, dental work is the work of satan!

CC - well done on getting through your first day back :)

I was induced with both my girls as I went 14 days over....Hope you get some news soon Burtha!

Monna - I wouldn't miss cooking for 60 either! What's going to happen with the drop in once you've gone, will the new Church member take over or has someone else stepped in?

It's a gorgeous morning here on the Kent coast, blue skies and soft breezes - just perfect. I've cut the front and back lawn, weeded, dug a few bits, fiddled with the tomatoes and beans and tidied up. The house work is as done as it's going to be so a few hours to crack on with some work.

Going to take MIL and FIL to a local Abbey Garden this afternoon - a walk along the river and a cuppa in the tea shop should go down well...DD2 will invariably end up in the river - she always does, there's a lovely shallow bit that's great for paddling. Just hope DH can stay awake long enough!

Omelette and salad for tea, I've got 30 eggs to use so best get cracking (get it?)....I'll get my coat!
