SHEILA love I see no reason why you should have a conscience over getting a private appointment when the alternative is waiting 8 months or more in pain and discomfort. You can't take the money with you pet, use it for a purpose as important as this and you're validating earning it in the first place. I agree with Fuddle that life would be much less comfortable without the NHS and that it is something to be very proud of as a nation but there are many more of us in the population now than there were when it was originally set up in 1948 and waiting lists that long mean people being in rreal pain for a longer time now so, if you can circumvent the wait by paying privately it's only common sense to do so. Hope you get swift and effective action and the problem eased very quickly.
FUDDLE I'm smiling at your sticks and wool in the garden lady, if they are watching what you're doing they'll be appreciating that you are trying your hardest to learn gardening and grow your own is an aquired skill, they will be proud of you when you harvest your first crops and certainly support anything else you do in your own particular style. It must be nice to know you're more interesting than the telly kid!!! Lyn xxx.0 -
Morning all, what a lovely day today is. I dropped DD at collage for her maths exam today then popped by to see my mum. She was awake early and had painted 2 more panels at 530am this morning. She loves her new look garden. I was planning on spending the morning with her sunday to do them but it looks like they will be nearly done!!! I am glad shes happy.

Morning all
Nutty - Great that all your hard work is appreciated. Hope DD's exam goes well.....DD2 should be home from hers soon....just one more next week and then she's done!
I've been approached by an arts and crafts gallery that would like to stock my work! Lots to look in to and need to have a good think about what I can commit to....but it's lovely to think someone else likes my work that much
My eldest moggy is really feeling his age at the moment and he's just fallen into a lovely deep sleep right on top of the box of frames I need to get into before I can start my next piece - I shall have a cuppa and hope he moves in a mo - I hate to disturb him (cos I'm soft)
Freezer roulette for dinner tonight, lots of half portions of this and that so everyone can have a different meat/fish with savoury rice and veg.....might even make up a jelly and fruit for pud whilst I'm waiting for moggy to move."Start every day off with a smile and get it over with" - W. Pooky - I am not surprised - your work is fantastic! Don't underprice yourself, as the gallery will obviously take a chunk of the money....

Shegar - don't feel guilty about getting a private appointment with a consultant. Because you did that, someone else was able to get their NHS outpatient appointment a bit sooner. One life - your life - live it!0

Sheila, its affecting your quality of life and after devoting yourself to caring for hubby you need to be fit and well. I totally agree with you going private.
Fuddle good for you hunny, your girls are going to get more from pottering in the garden, baking and doing crafts than sitting in front of a tv or game machine.
Pooky, well done and not suprised, I love your paper cuts (as you know)Clearing the junk to travel light

poky, as already said you work is amazing and totally unique. We are the proud owner of the alice in wonderland artwork that is on the FB page. When DD and her partner get into their new home (fingers crossed a new mortgage can be sorted out) I will need one for them..... just have to think of an idea for them.
Anyone who is thinking of getting one done, go for it!!!

Thanks for your kind messages girls, well I paid into NHS for 33 years , and it has been very good to me in the past , to date ive had 15 ops not counting lazer eye surgery , so ive costed the country a pound or 2, but there some people get through life and never enter a hospital as a in patient and others are always ill, thats how it goes.......
Very hot here today , just got OH back for the weekend , I will get through the best I can , he knows how things are for me........
I dont stand and cook at the best of times  so definitely wont this week end........
The birds are singing away in the garden which is lovely , loads of recently fledged about , pond is over spilling with insects, frogs , newts etc .....
Ive now got 3 hedgehogs under my summer house , I put food out every night for them , they are fascinating creatures , bo the dog dont like them coming up to the patio doors to eat though........
Hope your all ok and have a restful , peaceful weekend .......Sheila0 -
I hope you can see the consultant soon Sheila.
Pooky, I'm not surprised, your work is lovely. Won't be able to afford you soon!
It's very quiet here, as DS is at a friend's house, DD is at karate and DH isn't home yet. Just sitting here peacefully with the patio doors open listening to the birds. No doubt there are a million things I should be doing, but sod 'em.0 -
Dear She.
Keeping everything crossed for you. I'm one of those lucky people who have so far avoided doctors, hospitals, consultants appointments etc.
I loathe and detst anything to do with the medical profession. I tend to ignore any symptoms of anything in the hope that it will go away. Usually it does and so far I've got away with it but can't help thinking that it must be my turn soon.
I am totally in awe of those of you who are not only suffering appalling pain and suffering but also having to fight tooth and nail to get your rightful treatment. It does seem totally unfair but I also feel for the doctors etc. who are hamstrung by the wretched system. I think that most of them are committed to their profession and must feel dreadful when they cannot do what they know is the right thing. But all of you on here who are in misery because of illness, I salute you! Your strength of character is unbelievable.
Update on the Birdman. The top of his costume is not a fairy, it's an ANGEL. What difference that makes completely escapes me.
