HESTER I wish there was something other than words that I could do to help, it's an impossible situation to come to terms with knowing that if it had been diagnosed months ago there might have been treatment to either effect a cure or at least keep it managed and give her a longer lifespan. Life is sometimes very hard and I wish I had a magic wand to make it all better and keep you all happy, sadly I don't but know that I'll be hoping and praying for you all and always be here to listen if times get too hard or dark to bear alone, chin up , Love and hugs Lyn xxx.0

Hi.
Hester, that is a shocking story. We don't expect doctors to be infallible but letting something like that go on for months is unforgivable. I'm not going to add any suggestions for meals - just to agree with whoever advised tiny portions. And don't worry if she isn't interested in a healthy diet, ANYTHING she fancies will be OK. My dear Dad, at the end, couldn't face the meat and veg scenario but offer him a dish of trifle and it disappeared in a flash.
And to all you who think that anyone over 60 will only eat bland familiar food let me tell you that from being the finickiest (is that a word?), pickiest child imaginable I, for the greater part of my life and still now, eat almost anything going, as my waist measurement will testify. I love strong tastes like cheese that takes the roof of your mouth off. There is a brand called 'Afterburn' - sheer heaven.
PIC: I think I have said before that I had this problem with the mothers of children having riding lessons at the farm next door who had right of access over a track across my land. They used to park in the narrow lane, on my property and clean out their cars, have picnics, walk the dogs and read the paper while waiting for their little darlings. Eventually, if I couldn't get near my cottage I used to park right behind them and go indoors. None of them could then get out!
It took a while but eventually I made my point.
I suggest that your neighbours get together and make a point of parking in her spot, block her in or do anything to make her see how unreasonable her behaviour is. It's petty but it works. Many people are unable to see anything but their own point of view until forced into being the biter, bit. Not something civilised people do, but I don't think that CW is a civilised person.
Had a charity bag delivered today pleading for clothing, handbags, cosmetics, bric-a-brac etc. Oh boy! Are they going to be pleased with me! I may have to supplement their bag with a black bin bag of my own. Off to start flinging stuff.

Hester I'm so sorry I missed your post and feel terrible for rambling on about such unimportant things.

Hester, hugs and a nice cup of tea. It is impossible to prepare anyone for news like this, sometimes it is only the practical things we can do. If I think of any other ideas for food I'll pass them along.
PIC, what a needlessly stressful situation. It sounds as if you're doing your best to rise above.
Kidcat, hope you get a bit of time to put your feet up this evening--if only for a moment between chores!0 -
Hester, so sorry to hear that news. MacMillan Cancer support have a cookbook of simple but tasty recipe ideas for people with cancer. If there is a Macmillan support centre near you they will give you a copy or you can download a copy from their website. If you do have a centre near you it is well worth a visit - there are a wealth of resources there, kind people and lots of support available.0

Oh Sheila you do seem to be going through the mill at the moment.
I do hope they can do something about your plantar fasciitis, it must be so painful. I remember you have talked about it before and those dreadful injections.
I have Type 2 diabetes and have retinal screening each year. So far I have been OK but I am always aware things can deteriorate quickly.
I am pleased your Husband has settled in, and it must be good to have him home occasionally, but it is good that he wants to return to the Nursing Home. How awful it would be for you if he didn't.
Look after yourself and take care
Much love

Hester, many hugs from here and thinking of you all.
PIC I think the emergency services may send an advisor, it is illegal to block entry - I found out the hard way when we parked our car in the alley way overnight once at our old house. Your silly neighbour is putting herself at risk as well as others
Sheila so glad your Oh is comfortable and happy at the home, good job as you are struggling.with your feet. I do hope they get you a good doctor soon at the hospital.
Another quiet day here but some good news, DD's Oh has managed to get a cheap little car (with our help) as he has a new job and does a months training in Birmingham. It was cheaper to buy a car than hire or use the train as he wont know if and when he can come home. If he could book a train in advance it would be ok. Its about time they had a car even if it only lasts 6 months it will help Dd ferry little man around. It had to be done as the job was too good to miss and he got it out of 100 candidates :eek:Clearing the junk to travel light
Saving every single penny.
I will get my caravan0 -
Hugs from me as well HesterMust use my stash up!0
