Kidcat when I was perusing the National Trust shop yesterday I saw raspberry curd - never tried it and now regret dilly dallying over whether to treat us (didn't, tight as... but wish I had!) because I can't picture how it would taste. First chance I get Ill be trying a HM variety - maybe something you would fancy with your surplus?

Speaking of freezers. You know that freezer we were given when we moved? Yes, the duct tape one. Well it's been over freezing the last month or so. I have to chip away the top drawer ice off every week in order to get the door closed. We should have enough saved for a replacement in the coming weeks but ho-hum really wanted to get more than 6 months out of it. Still, served us very well.

I have lost another 2lbs. :D I am counting everything and using my fitness pal to scan bar codes (very easy and accurate) I am hoping to find some relief with my knees as I lose a little more.

Well washing coming out of my ears so best get cracking. We're off to the beach when the tourists due off later this afternoon. Weather not brilliant (white cloud and breezy) but that's never stopped us.

Ribs and corn with HM wedges for lunch and yesterday's chicken thighs with cheese melted in a wrap for the kiddlers. Will take a flask of coffe and sarnies for tea on the beach with maybe an umbrella! Enjoy Bank Hol Mon toughies :)

PIC I have just read your blog, what an absolutely wonderful post. Never a truer word was said.

    Much love

Thankyou, I'm just a little fed up with some of the benefit bashing that goes on and without going into too much detail a certain person on tax credits (near us) was having a good old benefit bashing session and the people chirping along with her really got on my (insert clean word of your choice here) After the week I've had I didn't say a word but vented on my outlet instead........well done me :D

Nutty I think you must be half machine, it's the only way I think you do as much as you do and now with kidney stones playing up as well! you put me to shame. Are you sure you need tramadol and not WD40? xxx

I've been pootling around the lottie most of this week and the joy of seeing my lovely cabbage seedlings germinate soon wore off when I went and the slugs had munched the way through them. This really is a learning curve.

I lost one of the chooks this week as well, it's heartbreaking as she was more of a pet.

Got to go and supervise DS mowing next doors lawn (he's 17 but I still want to be there if he chops his foot off)

PIC I do feel like a machine at times. Ive managed 2 loads of washing, so all caught up. We trundled off to primarni earlier in Peterborough. Managed to buy 2 pairs of espadrills for the summer for £4 each. DD got some new collage trousers for £5, so no need for anyone to ever not look good. Bargain!!!! We popped in poundland too for a few odds and sods, as we say!
Had to stop and get fuel at mr m, and we bought a side table for the garden for £10 - it is half height and only small but ideal next to the garden bench to keep my cuppa on and a naughty biscuit on a plate.

I have watched smurfs and have just started on the second film. Its is so funny to watch :-)

  • Evening everyone, back from my travels and glad to be home and not on the hot, crowded and very noisy train any longer. Lovely concert and lovely time with DD but very nice to be home again with my boys!!! PX87 glad the teeth have gone and hope your poor OH is not too uncomfortable with his mouth now, well done for sorting it all out, it sometimes pays to be fierce doesn't it? FUDDLE raspberries are good for some 15 years before they need to be replaced. Each year you need to cut down the old dry canes that have already fruited, they will be brown and stick like and the plants will grow new green shoots round the bases of all the old canes in the spring which will be this years fruiting canes. There are always more sprouts than you actually need so if you want another row of raspberries you can dig some up and move them to a new row where they will very quicklu grow on and start to produce fruit. Raspberry curd is very nice and we tried ginger curd at christmas whish is really yummy so if you find some again be brave and buy it, you'll love it!!!

Tomorrow I'm going to have to harvest the rest of our overwintered leek crop, lots of them have gone up to flower heads but they'll still be edible if I process them and then I'll pop them into the freezer ready to go into soups or casseroles and we'll have the space in the garden for a different crop. Lyn xxx.

I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.
  • Hi MOLLY, hope you're on the mend now love and feeling much better, Lyn xxx.

Mar, I'm sure Lyn will be very positive but after my experience last year all I have to say is, sleep with one eye open and your pinching fingers ready to get those awful cabbage worms! I've never seen something get so fat so fast!
