Hello LINKYPIE welcome in to the thread, love it when we get new friends to chat with, good luck if you're going to tackle all 563 pages of back reading!!
PIC we're really lucky as our allotment is just across the road at the back of the houses facing us, we have to walk round the corner to the entrance gate but it makes it easier to harvest crops and get them home in the panniers on He Who Knows bike. Things will grow bigger and faster in a polytunnel, we found that herbs like dill go 8' very quickly and get very leggy so don't try any longer but grow it outside. Basil grows very well and parsley overwinters really well. We lost the tomatoes in the first year we had it, we planted them much too closely and lost the lot to blight. Peppers and chillis thrive in there and you can overwinter hispi cabbage and winter lettuce and get an early crop ready in the spring. We always have a succession of lettuces and find little gem keep better (and don't bolt) than any other variety. I guess where you are in the country and how warm the tunnel gets determines what will be a success and what won't.0 -
Poor DDs always had really scorched bots when teething. My GP at the time was nearing retirement and had seen it all and he sent me to the chemist to get some zinc ointment with 2% coal tar solution (not zinc and castor oil cream, zinc ointment). I'm sure it's banned now but OMG that stuff was miraculous!!! Totally intractable nappy rash cleared up in the space of 24 hours.
That and a Wright's vapouriser saved my life when they were small. I was sad to see Wright's vapourisers went out of business. When you have a child who made themselves sick every time they woke up coughing, you really appreciated the difference it made. Bathing a toddler(who was then, of course, wide awake) changing cot sheets and rinsing the nasties off at 2am was not my favourite bit of motherhood With the vapouriser they slept through - brilliant! It doesn't matter if you are a glass half full or half empty sort of person. Keep it topped up! Cheers!0 -
When my DD had nappyrash i swore by Sudocrem....and so did she aged 4 when she coated her bedroom in it! she still gets called the sudocrem kid now aged 14!
Not done too much today, a little shopping, a little laundry and a lot of chilling out.
Hope you all have a good evening - catch up tomorrow x0 -
Evening toughies sending hugs from sunny Hampshire.
Just a quick post as I am off to bed early after our five hour journey today.
Nappy rash like others we had success with metanium for one child, bepathen Fir another but the most surprising was the tub of coconut butter from home bargains for 1.00 which worked wonders.
PIC am green over your incredible tunnel.
Nutty from memory you do more than 37 hours a week anyway so as far as I can see you may as well get paid the extra. As someone has said use the extra to buy help whether it's a cleaner, ironer or gardener, whatever you need to take stress away.
Funny tale of the day OH disagrees with toll roads but I always take the toll road on busy days as the boys can't cope with queues. I figure we visit theme parks and get wueue passes as a result of their needs paying the toll is only the same. I failed to n realise how much it affected OH though and he had a meltdown. Travelled the whole distance with his eyes closed. Even refusing to open them when I had to stop at the services for toilets!
Night all hope everyone has a lovely weekend.0 -
Just a quick thought, although it's 99% certain if baby is teething that the sore parts are down to a teething rash, a very sore bottom that really won't heal may also be thrush and need Canesten cream to get it healed.Erma Bombeck, American writer: "If I had my life to live over again... I would have burned the pink candle, sculptured like a rose, that melted in storage." Don't keep things 'for best' - that day never comes. Use them and enjoy them now.0

Speaking of nappy rash.. does anybody have a fav face cream? My skin has got so dry it's unbearable. It hurts when I smile or yawn, it's so dry, all flakey and rough. I can't use Cocoa Butter though. Best thing I've found is Germolene ointment but it's very sticky!0

MAR not a face cream but Johns*ns Baby Lotion is very easy to apply, gentle and very good for dry skin. I get it at the 99p shop and that means I can use it generously and not count the cost, Lyn xxx.0

Burtha that's good news. It always helped me when I knew the police had caught them. .
Off to Portsmouth today
Mardatha I use the Aldi face cream that got really good write ups ages ago and I think it's decent. I also have the bodysh0p vitamin c skin reviver which is like silk its much more expensive though. My friend works for john lewis make up dept and she says its better than the most expensive ones they sell.
Was planning a trip to monkey world tomorrow but OH isn't keen and fancies IOW instead. Any suggestions please for somewhere to visit with my herd would be gratefully received.0
