Princess - thank goodness for emergency savings, good for you though terrible your OH hasn't been paid on time.

I have just spent an hour or so listening to a friend. She asked if she could pop round and collect the stuff I have stored away for her to hide away in one of those storage units you can rent. We ended up sitting in her car to talk (so our boys couldn't overhear.)She is trying to leave her abusive and alcoholic husband. She has made some practical steps like moving some sentimental bits into storage and another friend has some important documents. She also has some money saved now. I am not sure she is ready to actually leave him though. I haven't known her for that long actually ands want to help but also aware that I have to be careful I don't get over involved and also the safety aspect, I don't want someone abusive and drunk on our doorstep. Feeling a bit drained now.

Nutty, we always take our own treats, lunch, drinks or whatever with us. I took drinks but just forgot to pick up the snack bag. When we used to go to play centres and similar more often I used to note what they sold eg. milkyways and buy them in a multipack and then get them out discretely. ;) I would be happy if I didn't have to set foot in one of those places ever again!

DH has sneaked off for a nap so think I will have 20 mins myself and then do a very easy tea.

I have another similar nappy/potty story. Left DS in just a nappy as a baby as it was a very hot night. Woke up to a baby who had taken off his nappy and smeared the substantial contents over his entire body, face, hair and all and all the cot bedding and soft toys. He was crying and holding his arms out to me. Took 2 baths to clean him up. I will never forget that morning ha ha!!

I can still remember the look of sheer horror on my husbands face whilst being hosed down for the first time by one of the boys whilst nappy changing...blessed 'things' never want to be caught whilst in action, so damage limitation was called for and usually a spare nappy deployed to hide behind!!

We swore by lashings of sudocreme and either pampers or huggies nappies for ours they couldn't do the cheaper ones, came up in a rash. DS2 reacted to pampers so used huggies on him.
  • PX87 I used Metanium for both my littlies when nappy rash reared its ugly little head, it's a dryish cream but really soothing and clears the rash and redness very quickly. Sometimes the old fashioned remedies really do work!!!

    Happy Easter everyone.

Kids have had a tub of celebrations instead of eggs so they're happy.

I can really get to town on growing plenty of weeds now :rotfl:

I know it needs digging and sorting etc but I can get round to that now. Important thing is I have a deck chair int there!!

  • Welcome to the polytunnel owners world PIC you'll love it, it will give you an extra 6 weeks either side of the normal growing season and so much produce you'll need an extra freezer, fab stuff petal, just fab!!! Lyn xxx.

We've made ours into 3 beds, one down each outside wall then a path each side and a wider bed where your 'slabs' are. We've installed permanent netting right down the middle of the wide bed and have peas and climbing french beans, half a net of each in and growing on. We've put in an early courgette, it will be finished by the time the outside ones are starting to crop and have a cucumber in which we'll string along one of the outside walls. A lovely summer thing to grow is sweet basil, we get basil forests and make oodles of pesto right through the season, it just keeps growing on. Beetroot do very well in our tunnel too, He Who Knows plants a succession round about fortnightly and we eat them small and sweet.

I don't know what I'm going to grow yet as it depends if any seed survive :rotfl:

I wish I didn't have to take the car to the lottie though. I have a bike and it is only a mile down the road but the road is full of speeding lorries and lunatics racing each other. It is one of two main roads out of the village.

If I stood on my roof I could just about see it I reckon, it's so frustrating! Even the hardiest cyclist hardly dare ride down that road.

Alternatively I could walk across the farmers field but he ain't the happiest of people :rotfl:

Thanks for all the suggestions. Its my niece and her parents are stumped! Baby has been teething since 8 weeks old, But the big teeth are really cutting thick & fast. So far she spends more time out the nappy then in one (loads of accidents, including on people) and plenty of cream. Wipes have been stopped and gone back to cotton wool & water and no cream found to work.
A friend at work swears by something called Bepanthen with vitamin B in it, but it's incredibly expensive and only used for emergencies - don't know if it's something your niece has already tried?
  • Hey all, I've just found this thread and am working my way through it - look forward to getting to know you all xx
