Morning all, had a great night last night after a busy day at work. OH and DD & fianc! decided to surprise me with a night of 10 pin bowling. We ended up having 3 games and a couple of drinks. We have pre booked for the 18th, and they let you have a lane for 10 an hour. Free shoe hire too,so we are planning another night out. I am rubbish but I make them all laugh because I get excir=ted if I hit 1 skittle.
Was a mad mad busy day at work, all horses safely round the grand national course. Was a nice friendly atmosphere too in shop, lots wanting to chat, so made the time go quickly.
Need to discover some bits to list on ebay, only have a few sorted so will make good the free listings today.
take care all xBSC member 137

I'm here PIC. Online early doing some present shopping instead of going out today but have spent too much really. Miserable day here so no gardening will be done again.
Right, I'm going to have a bath while listening to Sunday morning love songs and then will decide what to do with the rest of the day after walking the dogs.
Have a great day everyone.Spend less now, work less later.0 -
Morning all
monnagran - I know just what you mean about the restaurant thing, but I can usually console myself by remembering that I haven't had to cook it and won't be washing up afterwards
It is irritating though if I have something in a restaurant and it's "all right" but not as tasty as I could have made it at home for a fraction of the cost!
nuttyp - Glad you enjoyed your bowlingi don't watch the National but it's good to hear they all got round safely.
Hope everyone has a good day xx0 -
CC if you're reading along I just wanted to send you a hug and some love, it's a difficult time for you just now and you'll be feeling sad and lonely, just wanted to let you know that one or other of us is always there with you, just being and caring and supporting so although you might be lonely you're never really alone. We'll always be there when you need a friend, chin up love, Lyn xxx.0

Morning everyone,
Cornishchick - I have also been thinking of you lately and sending hugs.
Sounds a nice Sunday morning Jazee and a fun eve out nutty, we keep meaning to do bowling as a family.
Grey, rainy day here so trip out to woods with kids will wait for another day. Feel a little guilty we have done nothing outdoors this weekend but yesterday the boys spent half the day in the garden and rest of time playing wii games, board games and drawing.
Tomorrow rain forecast all day so think we will do the trip into town for the dreaded shoe size check - pretty sure both will need new shoes (and trainers and plimsoles.) Need a few odds and ends but won't get much with my two in tow. Maybe a trip to the library and the bakers for a cake each will turn the trip into a fun one.
Back on track using food up and trying to run the freezer down again. Yesterday I used up some grapes that were perfectly edible but past their best in a very simple recipe with pork steaks served with mash and corn on cobs. I am proud of myself that I rarely need to bin any fresh food at all these days. Today is our favourite toad in the hole served with lots of steamed green cabbage and onion gravy. Mmmmmmmmmm.
take care

Fuddle I think the whole smoking thing is a huge silly fuss - it is the woman's home and its not as if you're going to be imprisoned and kippered for 23 hours a day. I think modern life is totally bloody mad most of the time and they overreact like hell lol
It's not a huge silly fuss to me Mar. It's not just a case of 'oh it smells' it effects my breathing and I find it extremely difficult. 3 hours is a very long time to try to work in those conditions while not only knowing it is effecting me physically but also nastily toxic in my body.
Surely I have a right to breathe in clean air in my workplace where I have absolutely no choice?0 -
I've shoved a chicken which had a use by date of yesterday into the slow cooker this morning. I feel rather under the weather and not really up to the rigours of a roast dinner (!) but this way we can do something we feel like with it by the evening and it will keep another couple of days. I dare say the smell will drive the doglets mad after a while ...
I've been thinking of you too CC and hoping you have family and friends rallying round you. There's always someone here when you feel up to it.
More junk to the tip yesterday, and it's starting to feel as if we're making a difference now. I had a bit of excitement yesterday when I had an email from the national lottery to say I'd had a win (I only buy a ticket a few times a year) but it was £2.50 so the excitement died down rather quickly. Not quite enough to pay off the mortgage.0 -
Fuddle, I haven't read back on the whole smoke issue, but judging by your last post I'm with you. I have breathing problems and am affected almost immediately I'm in contact with a smoker, just the smell on their clothes can be enough. This week I was working down south and was affected by the smog too. You should probably speak to your employer if you haven't already.
I'm just glad I now live in the countryside up north, no longer have to use an inhaler and may possibly live longer. Which is surely fair when I have chosen not to smoke?Spend less now, work less later.0 -
Maybe different take on it Fuddle because I'm older and everybody used to work and mingle with smokers all the time, and we survived. I think it's different in places like pubs, where the bar staff were virtually kippered by a roomful of thick smoke for hours every day.. but in somebody's house I think they're entitled to smoke. I don't like the pc brigade always telling us what we should do and what we shouldn't.
However it's your job and your business not mine, I was just adding my thoughts on it0 -
HI toughies am sending hugs to all today
We had a long day yesterday as DD8 had dance exams, think a day locked in a room that echoes crammed with giggly girls ranging from age 3 to age 16 and you can imagine my migraine afterwards
Monnagran we went out to dinner last night, and it was the first time I didnt count up what it would have cost me to make, probably because it was a chinese buffet, and there were so many dishes available, I could never have cooked them all for the price we paid
CC - hope you are holding up in what will be the worst time I would imagine
I have just booked a holiday for Easter weekend, got a really good deal, and means the kids will be occupied, we are staying near the New Forest and some of our attraction tickets from Oct are still valid! Meaning our days out will be mostly freeNot telling littlies yet, but have prepared Ds15 who has not reacted well, heres hoping I can sell it to him this week.
