Hope the party goes well tomorrow Kidcat. You could do without any more stress I think!
After a miserable start the sun is now shining here. Long may it continue. We have a friend coming to stay tomorrow so I have a day of cleaning ahead of me.

Good day to you all :) good week actually as I've just had a week worth of posts to catch up on.

WBD was a doddle here. Eldest school banned dressing up in favour of extra reading time of their favourite book from home and youngest school did have dressing up but we got our thinking cap on and decided that Luna Lovegood from Harry Potter it was - civvy clothes with curly hair and cardboard spectra specs ;)

The stitch of te blanket is utterly boring single crochet but as I've been so time poor I wanted something that I could do without concentrating while talking to DH/watching TV.

Speaking of time poor - no more as of 10pm this evening. My hours have increased to 45 per week with those horrid shifts every other weekend. It was too much and defeated the object of having a part time job. I've cancelled my evening availability so now work 25 hours per week plus the horrid weekends. It was far too much on all of us. Here's to relaxing evenings and finding a social life :D

I'm tired of stitching DD's tights! I have them to do again at the weekend but determined to not buy new as she'll be in socks soon.

Meal planning needed again considering I clock off work at 2.30pm from Monday so can get back to the nitty gritty of homemade meals, mothering, homemaking and even back to being a wife as 10pm finishes were killing everything not least speaking to each other!

My car's MOT tomorrow. It will fail as there's welding to be done and I suspect exhaust issues but DH has a mechanic in his building ;)

Weekend off will be spent walking and a picnic - jus out the back, we've been told there's a good spot near us and painting white the bathroom and reseeding bare patches in the lawn where the previous tenant had pots on it.

Remember those concrete pillars that were left in the garden - DH took a sledge hammer to them last weekend so they are gone.

Waiting list application gone back to council for local schooling of DD.

NVQ has begun - text books borrowed from library. Does anyone know how many times a lender can re-borrow a book in a row?

I paid 40p for 2 carrots yesterday (big ones but still... ) and was horrified. Are any of you making plans to tighten your belts more? We are. We're not sure growing our own is te answer as such a small space here but I am concerned. The talk locally is that we're about to experience very nasty in the pocket for food stuffs again. I can quite honestly believe it.

Fuddle it sounds like it's really coming together for you down there, I'm so pleased. :) I agree tough times (well, tougher!) are ahead food wise as all this flooding will have played havoc with harvests.
The house cleaning is defeating me and the rabbits have decided to redecorate also so there is currently newspaper strewn all across the floor. I'm not remotely houseproud but even I can't have this on display!

Normaly 3 times, but if you need it for course work then talk to the staff at the library, some will let you keep them for the term others will let you have them for the course year, if that makes sense

Yes to the belt tightening, and look at perenial planting, most fruit plant's come under that, expensive stuff like salad that can be done as cut-&-come again and vertical growing so bean's, peas and the like growing up wall's,fences or trellis.hth

  • What a super day it's been down here, at round 1 o clock he sun came out from the overcast and the temperature soared so walking the lurcha this afternoon was such a pleasure, it's the first time I've been really pleasantly warm for eons!!! We got out into the garden and pruned the big old apple tree, I'm saving the branches for use in the OzPig and the twiggly bits for my Kelly Kettle to make afternoon tea and save some money. We might have a barbecue in the garden this weekend, weather forecast predicts temperatures of 14/15 degrees and I have YS burgers and Chippolata Sausages in the freezer all I have to do is make some bread rolls and I've all the necessary to do that.

STILTWALKER - Hi Helen, little Miss Stilty did it again didn't she? How can they school possibly need any more proof of her obvious intelligence from now on, she really is an amazing little person isn't she? I bet you are puffer pigeon proud of her and best of all she now has a voice to communicate her thoughts to the world, brilliant stuff!!!

I might be lucky and get a lift to B & M tomorrow, they really are the most bargainous place I know of so I'll see what offers they have for teabags and cuppa soups, we seem to get through an enormous amount of both these and I'd rather not part with pennies I don't have to part with, and I'll see what other good deals they have too.

Have a good evening all, Lyn xxx.

    Evening all

Feeling somewhat better from the rotten cold which has laid me out for the last couple of days. Think it's probably just a case of a wee germy magnified by being rushed off my feet the last few weeks and stressed waiting for the DLA decision letters. Got fed up of waiting for DD's so rang DWP today to be told that the decision letter had been sent out yesterday and should be with me in the next 4-5 days - chap on the phone was kind enough to tell me that she has been awarded mid care and high mobility until 2019!! That's a huge weight off my shoulders and remarkably I feel a whole lot better this evening! It's not as long as DS's (weirdly since they have the same diagnosis and care needs!) but it still means no more DLA forms for 5 years - and that's enough to make anyone feel better!

Lyn - how's little Zebra doing? and his mum too of course - hope all is sorting itself out for them and they are settling down into family life. School are now finally starting to believe in DD the way we do - strangely we suddenly got a whole load of really positive comments in her home school book this week! I think the problem has been that her teacher is relatively new to it and has never dealt with a child like DD (having said that she baffles my Dad at times and he was a special needs school Headteacher for 30 + years!! she really is a one off) But we'll get there with school - we have to as DD will spend 2 years in her class followed by DS doing 2 years with her! At least school are open to learning new stuff and being inclusive - I know I've had a couple of mini rants on here (mainly as I know you lot will listen and be supportive) but I do know that we could have a lot worse school to deal with.

DH is now getting all excited about cars - we've decide to go with the motability scheme to get a big enough car to cart all our gubbins around - I guess it's probably a 'boy thing', I don't really mind as long as it makes packing up to go away for the weekend easier and we can fit the trike in when we go to my parents so the kids can trikel along Grange prom.

Hope you are all doing ok - hugs where needed - Hx
  • Hi Helen Zebra's doing really well, he's more than gained back all the weight he lost at the beginning and is taking more and more notice of what is happening around him too. He now makes a whole range of noises and pulls faces back at you mimicking what you have just done in front of him. DD2 and SIL are now coping much better and Zebra is beginning to settle to a pattern of sleep which will make life very much easier for all of them. He's a much more contented little lad since DD decided that she wasn't being a very bad parent by giving him formula top ups and only cries now if he's hungry or very tired. I think she's doing much better than I did at 5 weeks with either of mine!!! Lyn xxx. Next week she gets to be able to drive again and that I think will make a huge difference to her morale and she can, up to a point, begin to get her life back again.

That's so good to hear Lyn - I (sort of-lol!) remember those first few weeks - I had a C with DD and yes, being able to drive again made a huge difference to me! DD was on formula tops ups too by 4 weeks and in fact I switched her over completely at 9 weeks as she's slept through for 3 weeks by then whilst I was still waking 3 times every night with boobs like Dolly Parton, in agony! I decided at that point that a happy rested mummy was worth more than trying to continue to bfeed. I admire anyone who does it but it wasn't working for us.

DD loves babies - so send your DD the gentlest little pat in the world for Zebra from my DD - Helen X
