Morning Toughies, CC I hope Mr.CC had a good nights rest and is feeling better today for being in his own home, hope it all goes smoothly for you both from now on and that he can remain at home which will be so much better for him.
WONDERCOLLIE thank you for thinking of us, being OMA is without doubt a very special feeling, I'm off to visit again for a couple of days next week, more to look after baby so his mum can do stuff than to help out practically this time, so I'm looking forward to that immensely. We set up Skype yesterday so I'll be able to see for myself just how he changes over the next few months, they are 2 and a half hours travel from where we live so it's not as if we can pop in whenever we want to. He is wondercrump!!!
Cold start here today but beautifully sunny and blue sky so I'm going to try to be outside for a while and enjoy it. Have the dentist for a filling this afternoon so I'm going to make pasta for our evening meal as I'll need something soft for the next couple of days, it's a big old back molar that's being filled so I'll need to let the amalgam set before I can eat properly on it. My lodger saw her new landlord yesterday and has signed the contract and got the keys to her new home. I think she'll be moving in there on Friday but she's not very good at organising herself so I don't yet know if she's taking all her belongings with her. She's got a weeks leave next week and is going back home for that, I guess we'll know on Friday!!! It will be very nice to have the house back to ourselves and get back to 'our' routine again. She's a very picky and fussy eater and it has been quite difficult to serve up meals that we all like, she has the habit of telling me she doesn't like what I've cooked just as I'm dishing it up on to the plate, good job I keep in lots of tins of baked beans!!!
Have yourselves a really good day, Love Lyn xxx.0 -
More heavy freezing rain here... getting so tired of this. Even if the sun did ever shine (hahaha) the garden is too sodden to stand in.
Wanted ask you how you remove bobbles from cardigans - my best cardi is wool/cashmere and has gone all bobbly0 -
Cc So glad DH is safely home. (((HUGS)))
Mardatha - You can get a sort of comb that removes bobbles, and there's a thing a bit like an electric shaver as well!
Not sure where you would get either of those except on the 'net. A dry cleaner might have them in stock.
Kezlou - So glad DS enjoyed his birthday
Sunny here atm. "Bin day" too. It's the second week in a row where I haven't had to put my wellies on to go and get the bins in!
((HUGS))) to everyone xx0 -
Mar just a general hand held razor does the trick but be careful not to nick it and extra careful on the seams.
Have a look on Lakeland, kleeneze, betterware JML etc for little machines that do the job safely.
Glorious day here and chuffed that I have the next two evenings off (and even more chuffed that DH is in London and I get the TV to myself!) girls get funny about dad not being home so I've bought I've cream and I plan to make cookies with them after school.
I'm having difficulty with youngest's school. There is a presumption that mums should be at home, dads should be at work and all families have access to extended family support re:childcare - specifically for parents evening as children aren't allowed to attend. That means I can't go to talk about DD's progress as I have no one to mind the girls. I've wrote a nice but strongly worded letter this morning explaining that I cannot possibly get the children looked after and that I will have to forgo the chance to talk about how DD is doing. As yet there's been no phone call. I'm hoping some one contacts me about it to arrange something and that they can relax their rules.
Honestly? I am trying very hard to get DD out of there. I know I should be grateful for a place in an exceptionally good school but too many 'traditions' have caused offence and problems to me. Home/school relations have been fractured beyond repair now.
I'm a northerner in an old micra, wearing a carers uniform and not religious. I don't fit in with the stereotypical mum of a child who is privileged to get a place in the school. They have had to accept DD and it shows in their attitudes towards my family and our circumstances.
I've sent the paperwork to be on the waiting list for my local school (my first choice school) and will apply again for a place when DD moves to the local middle school as I can't be there and 15 minutes away for drop offs and pick ups. It will undoubtedly go to appeal as they are full but I have to try. Is it acceptable for a year 5 child to be waiting outside of school alone of an evening while I get through traffic from the other school?0 -
Fuddle we have similar set up for parents evening at dd7 school. I said last time that I would have no sitter for it as OH was away with work and DD19 is in uni until late on Thursday. The head said it wasn't a problem to take dd and have her sit outside tandhe classroom whilst I was in with teacher. Loads of parents were doing the same thing when I went.
I have had a really productive morning, while cleaner was cleaning downstairs I got paperwork sorted and phone calls made. Achieved more as I wasnt worried about trying to sort downstairs. I even finalised all the party plans for ds9 and dd7 in few weeks and got appointments back under control. Finished the grant form to have the house alarmed and cctvd which has waited months. With warmer weather due am anxious to get the job done as ds9 is more likely to escape in summer.
Mrslw you will really enjoy Skype and baby will grow up being close even if geographically you are far apart.0 -
Those bobble removers can usually be found in wilkos and similar shops and sure I have seen them in some supermarkets.
We are lucky children are allowed to come along to parents' eve which is great as DH not always able to come. My kids sit around the table with us (I think the only ones who do) and listen intently. DS7 asked for harder homework last time. I really do think they should allow well behaved children to wait quietly. It is not on for schools to make assumptions about people's lifestyles and circumstances.
I am looking after a friend's little tot today as she is moving house. I have never looked after her before and was worried she would cry. However she has had a ball, is covered in all sorts of food (including a little catfood shhhh as she is obsessed with our cats), managed to put her socks in the cats' water bowl and so on. Had a lovely time in the park in the sunshine. Feeling broody and not allowed to be. Anyway although I haven't get anything done at home I have had a fab day!
Ok off to wrestle with little girl's socks, shoes and car seat straps and swap little madam for 2 boisterous boys

:rotfl::rotfl: I read this at first that you had ordered a small two year old girl from amazon :rotfl::rotfl:
I really must stop skimming whilst trying to do other things.
Have been to Mr T and got the easter eggs sorted, forgot the present I was supposed to buy as well though so will need pop out in a little bit, one of DS9 friends is very poorly and has a birthday today, too ill for party or even cake, so I figured we would drop a card and small present in for him.0 -
Kidcat, honest to god pet I would rather put my arm through a mincer than order one of them!0
