Taking off wedding rings?
Comments

I think my husband's mistress has insisted. I'm still wearing the lot, wedding ring, engagement ring and eternity ring.....(now there is a bloody joke). I will probably move the engagement ring and eternity ring to my right hand at sometime but the wedding ring stays put. Mind you its only been 3 weeks.
I am so jealousYou were lucky to get an eternity ring - hope it has a ring of diamonds and is worth a fortune if you eventually depart with it

Mine came off within a week, and then sold to one of those gold places not long after that, definitely no turning back for me - best thing I ever did
Been here for a long time and don't often post

I had been wearing mine for weeks until one evening I forgot to put them back on after a shower and only realised when I was half way to town, considered going back and thought 'no it's too late now' and never wore them again!0

I took mine off within a couple of weeks of the ex leaving. He seemed upset about it. Something to do with me not being committed to our marriage. Fair enough. Only he'd walked out to live with the woman he'd been having an affair with for 2 years and had already filed for divorce!
I think for most people there feels a 'right' moment to do it. For me, it felt wrong to wear the ring of a man who was no longer acting like a husband. The marks where it had been lasted for months - it's worth having a look at that - I was very surprised at how long it took for me not to look like someone who had hastily taken her rings off before going on the pull!
Do what feels right for you. And take care of yourself - that's the most important thing.0 -
I was a twit and took my rings off as I was leaving and left them on the side.
He sold them! Goodness knows why I didn't take them off and put them in my pocket.0 -
I am married (very happy) but I don't wear my wedding and eternity ring as they don't fit anymore (see sig !) But some of the gossip-mongers in work have been saying that they think we have split up.. (Hubby works away a lot.. Far to much in fact! But is currently looking for a new job) whereas I would never even notice if someone was wearing a wedding ring or not0

If you dont want to be with someone, taking off the ring should be no big deal.0

Taking it off seems to be a very significant act, and getting rid of it even more so. No going back, as others have said.
When my first marriage broke down (totally incompatible, quite acrimonious) I tok my ring off as soon as the separation was agreed and put it in a small china pot on a shelf in the bedroom. It's still there. For all the fighting and name-calling, nastiness and trouble (just calming down after 23 years!), I couldn't part with it. It is part of my life - not a very happy part, but it's my history. Probably one of the daughters will have if when I am gone, and sell it, but by then I won't care.If someone is nice to you but rude to the waiter, they are not a nice person.0 -
the day i found out my husband was cheating on me i took my ring off!!! Last year I sold it for £65 at a gold shop!! I have my grandmothers wedding ring - she was married for 49 years til my grandad died, and my mums ring - she was married almost 45 years, i shall pass these on to my girls - but the 10 years mine stood for was not worth keeping!!!"Aunty C McB-Wik"
