my point is give me a reasonable expectation of delivery and I'll be happy; give me an overoptimistic one that is unlikely to be met and I will be disappointed.

So in my example, should the delivery estimate be 1 day, which is how long first class usually takes, or 1-10 days because occasionally items get held up?

    Why, thank you!

The item was 2nd class, so I don't think it would have tracking.I'm not sure about a printed label - will see when it arrives.

And those options are not exhaustive.

I don't manually dispatch my items as Ebay take it upon themselves to do it when I print my labels and upload tracking. The fact that we do operate 24 hours seems immaterial to Ebay.

Regardless, I think you are being pedantic when you yourself said....
Actually on inspection, the despatch notice was sent on the Sunday with a despatch date of Monday 16th

Without knowing what system the seller uses to keep his orders up-to-date, I would say he has well and truly covered himself as he is still well within his 1 day dispatch time. And at NO time did he say he had dispatched on Sunday.

2nd class can sometimes take a week, if not more- and any buyer considering leaving less than a positive and 5* for anything that arrives late just shows [STRIKE]why we are all so fearful of our stars[/STRIKE] why the star system is unfair and can never work.

    Corrected it for you :-)

Sounds to me, prowla, that you'd probably save yourself a lot of stress if you went to the shops and bought whatever you wanted, rather than purchasing online. It doesn't seem to suit you.
I'm not stressed - I'm chilled, and voicing an opinion (which is allowed).

My ebay transaction count is over 1000 and I've been on it for more than 10 years, so I guess there's a disconnect between reality and what it sounds like to you.

Actually, I'm just going to take a stroll out to the shops now - missing you already!

2nd class: 2-5 days from posting.

May I ask where you get that figure from? Royal Mail's recently published figures are 2-3 days, which is what ebay uses to calculate estimated delivery dates.

Having an issue with a seller marking your item as dispatched on a Sunday (even though the dispatch date was shown as Monday) cannot by any stretch of the imagination be described as 'chilled'.:rotfl::rotfl:

It's only a minor issue, and I am chilled about it; I've no idea whether you have an imagination nor how far it can stretch.

The hard of hearing one with the stretchy imagination said 3-5 days, so I accepted that (and then I mis-quoted 2-5 days).

But you are right - the RM says:
    2nd Class mail

For UK wide delivery within three working days

2-3 working day delivery, including Saturdays.
I didn't bother to cross-check - just goes to show that some people don't know what they are talking about (maybe that was the imagination being stretched).

I've had that when I bought a top advertised as good condition, but when it arrived with a huge stain I messaged the seller. Who gave me a full refund. I would always give them a chance to make it right.
No you're not a vegetarian if you eat any animal or fish, so do not insult genuine veggies by calling yourself one!
