In terms of being harsh, my point is give me a reasonable expectation of delivery and I'll be happy; give me an overoptimistic one that is unlikely to be met and I will be disappointed.
All seller can do is dispatch as soon as possible and hope for the best.
It was my birthday last Saturday. My aunt sent a card, first class, on Thursday. If it had been on Ebay, it would have estimated it arriving Fri-Sat. The card arrived the following Tuesday. In your eyes this must be her fault?

You don't seem to be listening to what people are saying, it is EBAY who set the expected delivery time and it is often nonsense. You cannot blame your seller for Ebay's optimism!
All seller can do is dispatch as soon as possible and hope for the best.

The seller marked the item as despatched on Sunday morning (10:00, not the "night" before), knowing that it couldn't actually be done til the Monday - why?
Their own text description says they aim to dispatch within 24 hours of payment.
Now, I made the purchase Saturday night (20:00), so I guess the seller may have fooled themselves into thinking that they had to say it was despatched on the Sunday in order to comply with the 1 day criteria.
Looking at the delivery time estimates; if ebay's are unrealistic, then why not add detail into the item description - something like "We aim to despatch within one working day and deliver via 2nd class postage normally takes 2-5 days." would cover it.
The sellers description does not give any details about delivery, and so the only point of reference in the contract is that given by ebay.
And further to that, rather than glumly saying "it's not our fault, our hands are tied", have any sellers informed ebay that the estimates actually conflict with the postal service's SLA?
If you tell buyers something that you do not believe to be true, then it is not being honest.
And blaming the buyers for believing the information they are given when they make the purchase is rather shoddy.0 -

Firstly a seller may not mark it as dispatched, but perhaps either printed a postage label or added tracking (as I do being a 24 hour business). Unfortunately when you add tracking it marks the item as dispatched.
Re the 1 day dispatch, a seller doesn't need to fool anyone by marking a Saturday purchase as dispatched on Sunday to qualify. Ebay doesn't count Saturday or Sunday when working on dispatch days. They do count Saturday when working for a delivery day.
Ebay state the delivery estimates not the seller and nothing the seller can say or do overrides that. Whether a seller choses to add that info and contradict it in their listing would probably only cause confusion to those buyers who are not aware how Ebay works.0 -

If it has gone missing (no reason to think so as yet), it's got nothing to do with the seller marking it as despatched on a Sunday.0 -

No, it is EBAY themselves who decide. If you upload tracking they mark it dispatched. If you print a postage label then they mark it dispatched.
If the estimate is not correct, then it is Ebay to blame, not the seller.0 -
Sounds to me, prowla, that you'd probably save yourself a lot of stress if you went to the shops and bought whatever you wanted, rather than purchasing online. It doesn't seem to suit you.0

The item was 2nd class, so I don't think it would have tracking.I'm not sure about a printed label - will see when it arrives.0
