Numbers don't have anything to do with it, I have 100,000+, I'm sure some posters make me look small time. What does have something to do with it is experience of the mail system and those of us posting daily have more knowledge.

Your not a customer of mine I'm trying to appease or fobb off, there's no reason for me to pass the buck, this is just simply how it is and an estimate should be used as just that, a rough idea or gauge to go by.

If lateness occurs it isn't ideal but I haven't seen any retailer offering any kind of refund, voucher or whatever for a late parcel, only a refund on service charges when paying for an enhanced service.
I merely quoted the numbers in response to someone saying maybe online shopping isn't for me - 1000+ instances on ebay prove otherwise; I'm sure there are lots of people who have more, but that's not the point of the response I made.

I'm not looking for a refund or anything; I was merely commenting that the expectations that are set by the seller have not been met.

So you've not met expectations then - as you have said, you expect the item to be delivered in the time scale on the listing. How can you complain that it's a seller's responsibility to meet this deadline when you admit your items have been delayed?
Actually the items in question didn't arrive at all and I refunded the seller.

And I haven't sold diddlysquat on ebay since, because I found that the whole system was angled against me.

Bearing in mind you realise that the 'whole system' is 'angled against' sellers, this makes it even worse that you're blaming the seller for Royal Mail failing to deliver within their own prescribed parameters.

But this is the whole point.

The expectations you had were not met, fine, we get that. But you don't seem to see they were NOT set by the seller.

Not sure how you have managed to make this thread all about you. I shall leave you to your deluded views.

So you're aware there are faults with Royal Mail out of control of the seller. Jeez!

Sorry but I got bored of this by the time I had got to page 3 so don't know if Prowla has got his item or not yet - what exactly are you offended about? The seller has packed his items up on the sunday ready for posting on the Monday (perhaps he has to go to work Monday morning on doesn't have time to faff about before) - he then marks the item as being despatched with the date being MONDAY, he is not misleading you into telling you that he has personally posted it on the sunday, he has simply marked it as despatched for the MONDAY - a lot of sellers don't even mark items as being despatched - I really don't understand why you are moaning because he let you know it's physically going in the hands of Royal Mail on the Monday??

    Suit yourselves folks.

I'm not moaning - I said something and then there were 4 pages of whatever trying to pick it apart.

The fact is that I purchased something and was informed it was despatched before it was, and I was given delivery dates which were not met.

It doesn't matter if it is the seller themself, ebay or the mail service; the fact is that the information was wrong individually and/or collectively.

If the people here who sell things think there's not an issue there, then good luck to you. If you think I am being unreasonable expecting people to do what they say, then so be it - the customer is obviously wrong. If you think that the way to put forward your position is to throw insults at people, then suit yourself.

Anyway, it's been fun chatting; it's a nice day and I'm done with the topic.

You were given an estimate which is defined as:

Roughly calculate or judge the value, number, quantity, or extent of.

You wasn't told that item would arrive within 2-3 days.

I think you are best off shopping on Amazon, the ETA there is a simple 3 days to 2 weeks for marketplace orders, much easier, unless of course you need to have a bit more detail to plan around delivery but you can't have everything, well unless you pay for it
