NatWest First Reserve Huge Changes

In reply to the question about phoning NatWest, I haven't done that. I have wondered if by having a meeting with my bank manager in branch where they established my standing orders and visa debit card, perhaps they might review my past responsible usage and allow continuation.
Not a hope in hell.urs sinserly,

The mainstream banks sell mass market products with little room to tailor for an individual's requirements. Nowadays it's best to regard a branch manager as head salesperson rather than any sort of banker.0

There might be some leeway - you would be surprised at what can be done in some banks (not much, but there are a few strings that can be pulled). But I have absolutely no expectation that someone who has been using a savings account as a current account and as such makes the bank absolutely no money would be considered worth the effort, or that there would be a way to opt out of what would likely be a bank-wide systems change.
Also, I'm fairly sure OP is a troll anyway now, given they apparently seem to think my picture of noted fictional cretin Citizen Smith is actually me saying "up the revolution".urs sinserly,

Because current accounts are evil and have fees but the First Reserve isn't because doesn't. It's not so much the account, it's having what is effectively a current account where if you bounce Direct Debits you don't get charged.
NatWest have given OP notice that the gravy train will shortly be coming to an end and he is now plotting a revolution as a result.urs sinserly,

Surely the way forward for the OP is to run a current account properly and make sure that there is enough money in the account to pay his Direct Debits and therefore avoid any charges.
Or is that to obvious?0 -

Yes and paying the extra fees that most organisations charge for doing it this way.
Its not very Money Saving at all to do it this way, which is the point of this forum!!Time is a path from the past to the future and back again. The present is the crossroads of both. :cool:0
