Im begining to think this thread is a wind up.
I'm always reluctant to write off a thread as a wind-up because of JuicyJesus' law - "any viewpoint you can think of will always have at least one genuine adherent, regardless of how idiotic or unreasonable it is".
The same applies here.urs sinserly,

Im begining to think this thread is a wind up.
We had a NatWest member of staff stclaire chip into the thread and said "keep using it until further notice".
The letter received by NatWest customers, stated "we are beginning to replace expiring cards from August"
Seems clear enough.
Its not a wind up, within the fun and games of the thread there are some serious issues presented.
For example someone was on holiday or away for a couple of months, didn't see the letters, and came back to a non functional debit card and no standing orders. Surely they'd be inconvenienced.
I'm also delving into the technicalities of it, because I think its interesting, I think the visa debit cards will be replaced as they expire, not in one huge roll out.
If they catch this thread online, then they have been made aware.0 -
Plus I have gained two product recommendations, one of the original objectives.. I wasnt aware of them before.
Was like getting blood from a stone, but hey ho, hehehe christ...0 -
Just on the offchance that you have some spare time in between plotting revolutions and hoping people find your posts on Google, have you actually phoned NatWest and asked them to clarify what's happening?urs sinserly,

Was like getting blood from a stone, but hey ho, hehehe christ...This is a thread for the purpose of discussing the challenge presented by NatWest and to establish any work around, if you plan to continue the use of First Reserve
Nothing about seeking product recommendations.0 -

One of the two product recommendations that you seem to have now declared "a possibility" is a bog standard current account - just the sort of thing that you previously said is completely unacceptable. It doesn't come with overdraft control like some of the others mentioned.
Does this mean you have now declared current accounts, used by tens of millions of people every day, an acceptable alternative?0 -

I think the OP should carry on using there existing card until otherwise told.
However there is a possibility the bank may sometime in the future do an "excelerated reissue" should this happen the current card would expire within 28 days of the new card being issued regardless of its expiry date.Im an ex employee RBS GroupHowever Any Opinion Given On MSE Is Strictly My Own0 -
NatWest International still offer the First Reserve account with debit card according to the website
http://www.natwestinternational.com/nw/offshore-banking/savings-and-investments/g7/instant-access-accounts/first-reserve.ashx
Perhaps the OP could relocate to Jersey or Guernsey , or open the account from the UK (whichever is easier)
problem solved
The "Select account with overdraft control" is likely to report it's existence to the credit reference agencies whereas a savings account would not :think:Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. Thats really interesting, you know I wondered how much is branch related, as opposed to central / first line default 'letter send out' related.
I'm on the south coast and NatWest have allways supported me in person, so...
In reply to the question about phoning NatWest, I haven't done that. I have wondered if by having a meeting with my bank manager in branch where they established my standing orders and visa debit card, perhaps they might review my past responsible usage and allow continuation.
Above the products you see advertised, there must be all sorts of stuff systems and products available to those with a relationship with a particular person employed in branch. (abstract statement).
Out to JuicyJesus for the revolution pic
Anyone see Russel Brand on Question Time?0
