All very informative Ivor, but you have left out the most important part, that which is of most interest to us, why did you incur the charge?

More to the point, why is a man with your undoubted powers of persuasion not able to convince you poor old mum that the importance of this matter is that of less than an eggcup full of luke-warm urine?

TD - I think Ivor is quoting from a post on the Aldi website, not his own situation.
Please note, we are not a legal advice forum. I personally don't get involved in critiquing court case Defences/Witness Statements, so unable to help on that front. Please don't ask. .

I provide only my personal opinion, it is not a legal opinion, it is simply a personal one. I am not a lawyer.

  • Interesting article in "The Times" yesterday about the financial relationship between ALDI and Parking Eye.

(We (Aldi) don't make any money from Parking Eye.)

I liked the quote in the same article where it said Lidl would "appeal an Athena parking charge notice on the customer's behalf" . Hold on, who employed Athena? It seems the tail is wagging the dog.

  • Went back on the faceache page for the first time in months. At least six people complaining about scam tickets in the last two days. Weber/Shambles still trotting out the 'sorry to hear this. Please contact rude Rachel' crappage.
  • Now parking lie have scammed an Italian tourist. Unfortunately it was a rental car and so will have been paid and charged to him I expect.

Well, the new Aldi in Carnforth has opened, and lo and behold what do I find- Aldi have stuck up signs to say 1 and a half hour's parking (not up to 2 hours as promised), plus it says Aldi customers only (when it said it would let people could park and go to other shops in town), plus there are lots of Parking Eye signs up on poles and no doubt the cameras are going up soon...

I've checked the online council planning docs and I can't find any reference to Aldi having ever submitted the Car Park Management Strategy to the council, which was one of the planning conditions, nor is there any reference to all the car park signage and ANPR camera.

Does anyone have any tips on stirring things up at the council planning office about this?
