But of course they are passing all that VAT on to HMRC, aren't they. Aren't they? ;)
  • ^ That's me. I am livid to be honest that not only are PE incapable of error correction in their imaging - or any manual flags that would indicate that the evidence from their cameras may need to be reviewed by a human - but that in the case of there being a genuine mistake on THEIR part I have to jump through hoops to prove that THEY are wrong!!!

For a bit of background, I turned round directly outside Aldi in Fareham (see Google Street View for this) opposite and have done this numerous times. I did not park in their car park outside of the allotted time as:

    * My partner works opposite
    * We both use Aldi regularly and (in possession of both eyes and IQ) are fully aware of the regulations
    * I was actually at work for the 4 1/2 hours they accusing me of. And my keyfob access logs from work have been countersigned by HR and sent to PE.

Hi and welcome, if you would like some specific help with your issue then the best thing is to start your own new thread. That way any advice given will be directly relevant to you and your case.

Unfortunately, as you have found out logic and mitigation (or even the truth) hold no sway with ParkingEye and you need to construct a defence which will work.

There are some very knowledgeable people on here who will be willing to help and (if needed ;) ) lead you through the whole process.

    Good luck.

  • I like the cut of this lady's gib :

"Florence Hazrat re Aldi: if I took the time out from the 24/7 job of checking out which food I can eat without taking in charred bones, stomach, spine, skin and fur, I might perhaps (JUST perhaps) spare a minute or two in order to flood you with a volley of eloquent abuse again. If you fancy a live verbal sparring, I shall be only too glad to revive the old custom of flyting (now check THAT out in the Oxford English Dictionary) and battle with a defender of your choice on a public stage."

The "HamGate" saga seems to run and run and Aldi don't seemed too concerened about it. Their stock answer seems to along the lines that their limited offers will run out very quick and so hard luck, even though they were heavily promoted and advertised. I am sure the ASA might want to take on interest in this matter.

It could well come back and bite them. Anyone remember the infamous Hoover flights offer, or the Daily Express "£10 cruise for all our readers" fiasco?
What part of "A whop bop-a-lu a whop bam boo" don't you understand?

In non-Aldi news, I went into the Sainsburys store in town today, previously infested by Euro, and noticed that all the Euro signs had disappeared!

So has Sainsburys seen the light of day and ditched the scammers?

Anyways, back on topic, any more glorious defeats by Parking Eye in the past week or so?
  • Quiet on the Aldi page today. So to bounce this back to page 1. A quote from The Range F.B page. A few weeks ago it was a deluge of Parking Eye complaints. Today, this popped up.

'Was really excited about visiting the Range, but, thank goodness for FB - Don't want to be landed with a parking fine for enjoying a shopping trip and a coffee....got to be Asda/Tesco then'

Trouble is I don't think The Range will get the message. When they do reply it's standard drivel about bringing in a parking co. to stop abuse of their car parks.

The Range standard drivel:We brought in car park management systems as we found that our car parks were being abused by motorists that were not shopping at The Range and using the car park as free parking while they went elsewhere. This prevented our valued customers from parking on site.

... Apparently, as well, someone is complaining that Aldi are charging 20% vat on women's sanitary products when it should only be 5%.
Were these reduced for a limited period?

    [Gets coat]

I have been providing assistance, including Lay Representation at Court hearings (current score: won 57, lost 14), to defendants in parking cases for over 5 years. I have an LLB (Hons) degree, and have a Graduate Diploma in Civil Litigation from CILEx. However, any advice given on these forums by me is NOT formal legal advice, and I accept no liability for its accuracy.
  • One of the latest complaints is about the Aldi in Chorley, small car park and there being no parking spaces etc ... now wouldn't you think that our chums at PE would make a bit of an extra effort to "manage" their local Aldi in a customer friendly manner ? I]I will also get mi coat[/I. Interestingly, you have to drive through the car park to get to the car wash run by a different entity... hope no one goes in with a really dirty car !!

As Regards The Range, the one in Blackburn is in the middle of nowhere, no other retail outlets within walking distance so the standard drivel:

"We brought in car park management systems as we found that our car parks were being abused by motorists that were not shopping at The Range and using the car park as free parking while they went elsewhere. This prevented our valued customers from parking on site."

It really is that - drivel !

Anyone parking there to walk into town to shop would really need their bumps testing !
  • Interestingly, you have to drive through the car park to get to the car wash run by a different entity... hope no one goes in with a really dirty car !!
Does the car wash take up parking spaces? If so more proof that the parking has to generate money somehow.
I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.
