Hi Minrich
Why must they be smaller? Don't forget the other advantage of 123 accounts i.e. the cash-back on Direct Debit which can offset the £2/month charge and more.
Most companies DDs can be done online.
Cheers

Well don't want to interfere with my current current account. I'm getting a Six figure amount in to it soon and then that current account will be gradually shut down , will transfer all DD's to the 123 account then . This will be in 2/3 months . Wanted to ensure that we had these 123 accounts before they were discontinued , on that note do people think the 3% on £3k plus will continue for the duration of the account being open ? How can santander do this account where others are not/unable to ?0

nothing 'questionable' about anything i have said. but im sure i will be gagged as you wish :silenced: hopefully it's ok if i contribute in the meantime.
im not sure i would actually use Santander as a main current account, as their CS is so desperately poor, in my experience. losing cheques. agreeing something then doing the opposite. very little record of what has been said/done.
there are people who take advantage of this, letting them mess up then claiming from them as a result...a different approach altogether:undecided0 -
agreed saintalan, that is the way to do it0

It is obviously your choice what you use the 123 for but to rubbish it as a current account because you have made a bad experience with the Santander CS over something not related to a 123 is just - - utter rubbish.
Please provide evidence that people who use the 123 as a current account have made bad experiences. Such as, as you claim, "letting them mess up then claiming from them as a result".
I have said this before and I say it again: I have only ever seen one negative report, from a chap who didn't know that he could upgrade an existing Santander current account to a 123, thus keeping account number and not having to move DDs/SOs. Hardly a valid complaint, given that this information is on their website, or if he had asked them, they would have told him.
My first 123 was opened 2 years ago. It does everything that you expect a current account to do perfectly well. The online facilities are great, and it pays interest and cashback(*). I don't use mobile banking myself so can't comment on that aspect from experience but I have seen some posts saying it's good. I very rarely have any reason to contact their CS or visit a Branch because 99.9% of what I need to do I can do online or at ATMs.
(*) and cash withdrawals with the 123 debit card in Spain (incl Canaries and Balearics) are free of charge.0 -
I can confirm that Santander's mobile banking works very well0

wow...really are determined to give me a hard time_pale_
i don't do a lot of research, but my previous experiences have tied-in with what i have understood to be the general consensus. Santander have consistently been complained about in the financial press, haven't they? do they score lowest in customer satisfaction surveys?
i use HSBC for Business Banking, and HSBC and Barclays for Personal Banking.........but have Halifax, Co-op and Santander accounts for other uses too. i'm not damning any of them, and i certainly don't mind taking their incentives for opening accounts. again, to each his own.0 -
free cash withdrawals in Spain is handy.
is that the case in the whole of the Eurozone:question::question:0
