    Hello

I have one S123 account already, but decided to open up another two online today, after reading this thread.

I do not think base rate interest rates will increase anytime soon, and also believe that Santander will not decrease the 3% rate anytime soon either..

I can always close one down later if I am wrong and interest rates on the current account do fall from 3%,

I hope my applications get accepted before Saturday? At the end of the process it did say it takes 3 working days to open...so not sure...

Opened my 3rd one today after applying yesterday, so you should be OK.

As I didnt use Cashback on my first 2 I have tried via TopCashBack this time. Might be OK.

    Cheers

    Alan

How do you manage then when opening in branch and you're allowed to not have the debit card, then?
When you register for Santander's Telephone Banking, on contacting them by phone you are asked for either your Card Number, or a Customer ID Sixteen Digit Number followed by your Five Digit Telephone Banking Number, which you receive by post when you register your details for Phone Banking.

    Are you planning to switch?
Cashback will only be issued once your account is successfully opened and you have switched from your existing bank using the Santander Account Transfer Service

If you wish to I suppose, but I would just put the card in a safe place just in-case you want to use it for any reason in the future.

I only had a card and chequebook for the first 123 account we opened as a joint account, all other 123 accounts after that we have declined both on application.

Thanks to this thread I got off my backside and applied for three in a branch this morning. It's something I had been meaning to do since my Barclays 3.5% bond matured last week but have been putting off due to the complexity of running this multiple account lark.

Anyway the girl who dealt with my application didn't know anything about changes to the availability of the accounts.

I say "applied for" rather than "opened" because when she processed the application her computer didn't exactly say "no" but rather said "referred". Maybe I have a suspicious demeanour or maybe someone wanting to open three accounts together is triggering this. She is supposed to let me know on Monday.

    We shall see.

Just opened four 123's for my wife and one 123 power of attorney account in branch this morning, which are all now up and running and showing in my internet banking. Also opened Santander123 credit card for each of us which has free banking for the first 12 months as an existing 123 current account holder, as well as the standard Santander credit card which has no fee, this gave us four more direct debits to use.

They confirmed again in branch that the policy of two accounts only per person is certainly in place from Monday 24th June, we'll wait and see.

Thanks badger09 updated typo error to June. Thanks

i just opened two of these, primarily for the sign up incentives via QC and TCB. i know people who have several of them, but it sounds as though 2 will be all i will stretch to.

Yes, I switched from an old current account I don't need anymore.

It'll be interesting to see how it goes as there are no DDs on it.

I believe they are not able to actually close the account without my permisiom so maybe I could use it again:)

TBH I would have opened it even without the cash-back so figure I have nothing to lose.

    Cheers
