HSBC put me onto Debt Collections when I'm not in debt?!

Why do you expect HSBC to monitor your account for you ?
Why was your phone cut off ?
I don't expect that, but I do expect at least an automated notification, or the option to transfer money from my bank account automatically, especially if more than enough funds are available.
I explained why the phone was cut off- re-read the thread0 -
you expect wrong!;)
I cannot speak for all multi millionaires, but the few I know do have staff that would manage these issues - a PA, an accountant, in one case a team of accountants. With such a high worth it makes sense to delegate such tasks.
I trust you now understand how direct debits work, and that it is your responsibility to ensure you stick within your credit limit?
Oh, and CCs only offer greater protection in transactions where the item is worth more than £100. Otherwise, you have similar protection under a debit card.0 -
what is a charge card?
It's a card that needs to be paid in full each month.
We have access to some £2m across the company on Corporate Cards, and I personally have access to around another £200k on my 6 personal cards, so I don't need one, but they can be useful for many businesses/entrepreneurs.That is simply wrong.
Have a read of MSE's Chargeback article for details.
It offers more protection than a Debit, legal protection, rather than customary.💙💛 💔0 -
Ok, I have re-read the thread.
Sorry, you'll have to explain further.
What does this mean:
You repeated it:
What does "sent me across" mean?
Gosh, let me try to be more clear for you. They [Lawrence at customer service] said Debt Collections were dealing with my credit card. They [customer service] said they could not understand why this was the case as I had plenty of funds. They [customer service] said they would have to transfer me to the debt collection line in order to discuss it further. Hope thats clearer;);)

I always thought it a little odd!
Anyway, I had enough in my bank account so it still doesn't make sense to be put across to debt collections. Come on, at the very least call the customer. They even asked me the other day if I had done a few transactions, and never mentinoed anything about it being over the limit!!
Certainly it's a bizarre thing to do on their part but my point is you really should have known that you were about to exceed your limit and either not done so or been prepared for an eventuality.0 -

I read it that when the OP phoned HSBC, they transferred the call to 'Debt Collections' to explain the issue to the OP.
Are you sure you run a business?0 -
Anyone else feeling sorry for the call centre staff that had to deal with the OP?0

I was simply responding to the OP's erroneous statement:credit cards offer protection, debit cards don't.0 -

I was simply inviting you to read an MSE article to further your understanding.0
