My last baby was born by C-section. As baby was lifted out someone said "Good Lord, I think it's a girl."
 Whaddya mean think!
The nurse explained that because they knew the baby was very big (10lbs & I'm 5'2 1/2") they'd expected a boy.
I didn't try to find out what type she was before she was born as I already had one of each
You cannot live as I have lived an not end up like me.
Oi you lot - please

they tell you they are 99% percent sure or whatever bcos they cant guarantee it. i know two people who have been told the wrong sex (both were told its a girl and was a boy)
dont buy lots of boy things beofre the baby is born, you will be bought blue gifts, just buy some basics in white and then if they are wrong it wont matter shopping-wise!0 -
I take photographs of Babies in the maternity wards for my job. I did one baby earlier this year who was dressed in a pink baby grow, and wrapped in a white shawl. It was a boy, but the parents had been told they were having a girl and of course bought everything pink! We managed to do the photo without any pink showing though!

Agreed, we found out the sex of our LO because there is a history of heart problems affecting boys in my family. Finding out meant that I was referred to the County hospital not our nearest one to give birth, as they have more facilities. Thankfully LO was fine and was a boy as predicted, but even though my scan was for medical reasons it was pointed out that the sex they said could be wrong.0 -
they told me about 26 weeks i was having a girl but they did say that they can only ever be about 60 - 70% certain and they can never give a deffinate sex really from scans. Id always buy neutral just incase
no harm in waiting to buy the coloured stuff
and no i dont think it takes the excitement out of it - i think it adds to it, because u can be excited about (in my case) baby Annabelle rather than baby Christian, i dont think you any less delighted when they arrive into the world

of course thats the regular 2D scans... not the 4D ones because you can see 100% with one of those
god... anyone would think i work for a 4D company!! lol i dont, im just so excited about being able to see our baby so clearly so long before his/her actual birthday that im raving about the wonders of modern technology all over the place

lol yes i do of course mean the hospital scan haha, 4D are much better (i just couldnt justify the spends on it myself as money was tight)
lol perhaps u should ask them for a job at the 4d scaning place, i ended up doing that with nappies i ranted about them so much to folk!

there is no mistaking the genitals with one of those things... you can see them VERY clearly...
4D!!!!
Is that in a space time environment?
We knew for ours. No mistake. Daughter was the clearest one; full female frontal .0 -
My friend was told she was having a boy, prepared mentally for her boy got all excited about her boy only to deliver her & it took her months to bond because she had psyched herself up for that little boy. She would never find out again because she is convinced that is what took her so long to build up that bond.
I didn't find out with any of my 4 & the most amazing experience was when i pushed my baby into the world & discovered their gender all by myself. We don't need to do it perfectly - good enough is exactly that GOOD ENOUGH.

I have been a midwife for 9 years and in that time 5 people expecting boys actually gave birth to baby girls. Apparently if the umblical cord is between the legs during the scan it can look like "little boys bits".
In my experience I have never known of people being told they are having girls, to go on to have boys (although I know it does happen).I love this board, have "virtually" met so many lovely people, people I am honoured to count as friends.
