OP- Has your wife had other children? Though I never asked to know the sex with any of them, with the one I lost and my eldest I had very strong feelings that they were boys and I was right. With youngest though convinced I was having another boy I didn't have the 'boy feeling' I'd had before, I just dismissed this as the feeling not being there this time and didn't think about it not being there cos it was a girl.

Is it possible that she has a strong feeling that this is a girl. Don't forget to let us know what you do have.0 -
Does anyone else think it's takes some of the excitment out of having a baby if you know what sex it's going to be.0

My friend's DD had 2 boys and was depressed through her 3rd pregnancy because it was unplanned. She was told it was another boy and had a name for him but "he" arrived and was a "she". Friend's DD and her DH were ecstatic.0

I agree ... after all that pushing, panting, screaming, fainting, screaming, panting, screaming, pushing, panting, and final scream ....... I want a surprise at the end of it!0 -

as far as im concerned labour and delivery is surprising enough!
i think we want to know partly because in this health authority we dont get given the choice to find out, we are just not allowed,
also my DD is convinced its a boy, so if its a girl she is going to need time to get used to it... i dont want her first feelings when she meets her sibling to be disapointment,
also.... we didnt know that my daughter was a girl and i was no more or less excited about her than i will be about this baby (who will be going home in a blue or pink outfit... not a beige/lemon yellow one)0 -
many people do which is why they wouldn't ask... some of us though want to know. I don't see how I'll be any less excited knowing, all I care about is that this baby is healthy. Knowing saves me from following up every offer on Freecycle and just replying to those for boyshardpressed wrote: »Does anyone else think it's takes some of the excitment out of having a baby if you know what sex it's going to be.

Don't worry too much about that. MY DS was having a sibling called Randall according to him, named after his favourite Monster on Monsters Inc:rolleyes: . He was still thrilled with her when she didn't turn up with that name.;)Curious_George wrote: »also my DD is convinced its a boy, so if its a girl she is going to need time to get used to it... i dont want her first feelings when she meets her sibling to be disapointment,
