Almost impossible to say, but it's not yer usual UFO sighting, is it?

I remember seeing the letter 'M' in the sky a year or so back, when I was in Crediton. That was the Red Arrows doing their smoke routine somewhere down on the South Coast, so we can sometimes see things a long way off. ;)

My best guess is it's flares as part of a military exercise....or an attack by a galactic jellyfish. :D

OMG they are scrummy Alfie..... Please tell us you are going to keep Splodge!!! he/she will keep his mammy company..lol..

It is really col/fresh this morning in the old caravan... must admit last night/this morning it has been the coldest yet.. if it was up to me I would just brave it out at least until the end of September/October, but I think hubby feeling the cold more than me, so I 'might' cave in and either put the heating or the little portable fire on...As I know what he is going to say, that I think more of the pigs than him lol.. as I have made sure they have had loads of straw...lol..

talking to the stonemason yesterday, and we still cant work out the layout of the ranch, as they supposed to be 2 houses, the dividing wall, ( upstairs and downstairs) have door openings, like it was one house inside ( but it has 2 outer doors back and front)
Think I really need to try and find out where the old mining colliery records are, and see if there is anything in them, as I know in 1841 on the censors they were two cottages, with a family in each..

By heck, that Splodge is a size!

Tabby has very even markings, unlike our Lila, who is all over the place pattern-wise.

I like the look of the grey & white, but it's when personality begins to show that I get interested. Ours are quite unalike, but neither is recklessly bold at present, which is reassuring. They are out every day now, unsupervised, but so far have stayed within sight of the house at all times. :)

DD1's Bengal cat has disappeared. It made the transition to the new house OK and seemed settled, but.....They're convinced it's locked-in somewhere. :(

Our Daisy was catnapped for about 10days. Came home covered in fleas. We knew she was neither lost nor run over and that she'd be back soon as she could. It was putting pictures on lamp posts that did it. Once the thief realised she'd be recognised....;)

CTC... do you think it may be that originally there was a different form of staircase to each upper bit ? ie almost wooden ladder? the stairs now dont make sense if original maybe ?OR there was a comunal hall at the back that went up stairs and split off per family ? awkward passing on the stairs for the loo...:rotfl: try measuring from fireplace wall to middle wall on both sides and see what the difference is. if equal then im guessing communal staircase. if one room has lost width of staircase then im guessing there was two before... but that doesnt explain the door layout at top of stairs.... tis a mistery me darlin....;):D

CTC - try a couple of big Ag shows, I am sure I saw someone doing "spares" for old ranges at one of them.

choille How goes? Worried not to hear from you.

    Thanks RAS.
The shingles is a bit incapacitating. Should be working today but I can't.

Digger driver took digger to our own borrow pit, so OH is busy 'playing' with the digger. All you can hear for miles is diggers....seems that a lot of folks are in the same boat, so we are lucky to get the loan of one.
Went out yesterday & saw the damage down at the waterfall at Ardessie - one place where the road was blocked. A lot of hillside has come down. The people who live down from it have lost their track & most of the fields are under silt/sand.
Quite a few folks were flooded out and or gardens lost under tons of silt/sand, so we were lucky really.

We need to replace a culvert pipe, so that was delivered & will take water under the track - when we had the track done years back the pipe was broken & never got round to replacing.....one of those jobs.....

We just can't drive down to the caravan/house site & just have to leave the car up at the top for the time being - more of a nuisance than owt else really, but it looks like a river bed at the mo.

Colder - defo Autumn, but the rain has stopped for now.

Take it easy and let DH 'play.' ;) You must try to shake off those shingles. :)

Seriously, it's worth your DH having time with the digger, as learning the skills of operating one is so useful. I wish I could operate one properly. I have to rely on others, who are both very good, but they only come here to do stuff when it suits them. :(

We have holidaying chickens in our second 'resting' enclosure. They arrived yesterday in their blue barrel house I mentioned a while ago. I'll get a piccie this afternoon, 'cos I think it beats an Eglu....and all for £10 + a bit of wood. :p

The Red Arrows just went over us again ten minutes ago, on their way to Dawlish. We'll see a bit of them, I expect, as they're based in Exeter for a while.
