Well I managed to get the water pipe back up the hill. It had swept down quite a distance. I'm soaking wet.
Thought I'd better check the sheep & just found a poorly lamb lying in the wet. I feel bad as I didn't really check properly yesterday.0 -

You can't be everywhere, choille, and you're not too well either, so don't be hard on yourself.
Hope OH got to his appt and back OK.0 -
We had 9 tonnes of scalpings and chippings delivered today by company I'd not used before. The driver was great and squose the 26 tonne lorry in, almost to the field gate, saving us so much running around later.
I then ordered a new head for the brushcutter from an Exeter company, and that'll be here tomorrow morning. Brilliant!
Ah, but the digger and dumper from the firm up the road......who weren't answering the 'phone yesterday.....is not available after all, though it 'probably will be, dreckly.'At least they were decent enough to find us someone who could hire us this stuff, but they're miles away.
Two out of three isn't bad for Devon. :undecided0 -
;squose'? Is that Devonshire?
Good for you Dave. You sound organised0 -
Maybe just as well you are far away Alfie as I took the cats to the vet for their annual check up and it cost a small fortune
Still not got rid of the fleas on one of them even after the endless treatments and spraying of the houseGot an injection for him today and a new formula to try, if that doesn't work then the vet is going to investigate further options. There are none on the other cat or the rabbits so at a loss as to what keeps them on him when they have all been treated. It is so frustrating as I just want him to be free of them!
We got a bit of the hedge cut so it is easier to get up the path :rotfl: the rest of it needs doing but we had other things requiring immediate attention so it will have to be done in stages!Taking responsibility one penny at a time!0 -
you know when you find out youve actually bought something that turns out to be "a likkle gem" .......... well :j  :T
:D :rotfl: sort of sums it up for me...:rotfl: two of the dresses i bought off old lady turn out to be quite collectable/valuable... and a long silk 1980s neglige set turns out to be ... well the equivelant now from same designer is £360 & £162  for a bluddy nightdress and thin dressing gown !!!! the other dress is a 1950s frank usher which is reasonable value
im all oogled out now ...:rotfl: i think my neighbours are renting out thier barn for kids parties
seems to have been endless cars and screaming kids over the last week or two;. tonights are just all leaving now so cars on gravel for what seems for ever. friend actually owns the farm house and barns, bought it about 4/5 months ago but given them time to move out as they are elderly. theyve been there 40 yrs and kept changing mind about selling so friend GAVE them the money, exchanged etc peppercorn rent, they have time to move but cant back out

I don't think you'll find the word anywhere in the Transactions of the Devonshire Association, which I used to read as a kid, backalong. (I was an odd child!) In there, they'd record colloquialisms heard in Deb'n, and I'd collect them.
Other kids collected football stickers.....
Anyroad, 'tis all on-line now, m'dears:

So you can check if you like! :rotfl:0 -
Lila caught her first rodent this evening. It was only a shrew, but she was headed home with it at a rate of knots! Managed to persuade her to give it up. Bet that's the last time she gives me one of those!
Down in the barn, the swallows are well advanced in bringing their second brood along.I just hope the house martins haven't also gone for a second family, as our builder is back tomorrow, angle grinding the flashing in, just below their nest.

Lambs been given a big jag of penicillin even though I haven't a clue what's wrong & fed some glucose water. Wish they could talk. I dried her and put her in the byre & she seems okayish. Will leave her now until the morning.
Started raining again. I do feel rough & ache - you should see my rash!
Good you got your hedge done Rummer. Always a sense of achievement when you get a noticeable thing done I find.
The flea thing is strange Rummer. They are really hard to get rid of. You just have to keep on & try & treat the areas they use too - bedding etc. Worth while using old towels & disposing of them. Good luck with it.
Alfie that sounds really profitable for you.
Amazing what some things are worth.
Dave - I think shrews are poisonous for cats? Or is it the gall bladder? I used to find a greenish kidney bean shaped thing on the floor with some grass & blood ( Don't you just love cats? ) & I think that it wasn't palletable[sp?] for them!
Does anyone else think the worlds in a right mess? All these Kurds up a mountain & Gaza too. Here I was feeling sorry for myself & these poor, poor people.....it is so shocking. What can we do?0 -
Wee lamb is fine out side as if nowt was the matter. I'm so relieved as it's a gorgeous Hebredian female. They are all gorgeous of course.
Lovely day here, but not much energy on my part.0
