Ha, that's so funny Dave, I think we probably moved on the same day! Oh the joy, never again I hope.
We also didn't love this place, viewed it more than once but offered on other properties. When those offers fell through and we had to move ASAP, this was the only place we had seen still available
I didn't like it here for a while, then I got more settled and have lots of acquaintances and friends around. I have been not liking it a bit lately but that's down to our planning app and neighbours who think it's their job to shoot us out of the water  karma will get them too!
Choille I do hope it isn't shingles, I can't imagine doing all you do and being that poorly. Is there anything you can do to pre-empt if it is?
I haven't looked at B&Q for laminate but Wickes do a very good heavy duty laminate for about £12 per sq metre. I'm tempted for our living room, but I'd have to chisel up the tiled floor. So I am going to try sticking cork tiles on top and painting them, it's a bit cheaper but will be a lot easier and quicker. I may live to regret it so I'm doing one sq metre as a trial!
We also have a wooden staircase, it's been varnished but the steps must have had a runner once upon a time cos the middle of the steps is bare! All the runners I like are mega expensive so I'm going to paint the whole lot or maybe do something like this:

I love decoupage, convinced DH that our downstairs loo will be all odd bits of wall paper, cartoons out of newspapers, that sort of thing.
I am going to love this house eventually, annoyingly if I got off my butt and made a start I could love it a lot sooner :rotfl:
Right, off to do a bit of paint shopping, I can procrastinate no more!0 -
morning all,
I am soo pooped this morning... I will be feeling the effects of the weekend for a week now lol.. and to think I used to party most weekends...
this is the week, where we are doing a trial run with the business idea, finding prospective customers and giving some samples...
talking about the weather, it hammered down on Saturday night/sunday morning, and on the way home from stratford, there was some serious wind.. wasn't a pleasant journey home in places towing a caravan..Work to live= not live to work0 -
Set off for docs & just managed to get up the track. Road closed further down. Turned round, but we've lost our track. It's totally washed away.
I don't even think our insurance will cover it. We've left the car up at the main road.
Tried to change docs appointment {37mls away} & they've said they are all sorts of horrid tales of landslides, so not too great in Wester Ross at the mo.
Hope our PO outreach comes out from the other direction so I can get out some parcels later on this afternoon.
I think we've lost our bridge that OH built over the burn so I can access the veg garden. I've never seen so much water coming down the burn & the hills - used to a lot of water but this is biblical.0 -
Oh choille0

Less traumatic and expensive
. But sad, a very old blackthorn I had lovingly stripped of ivy when we arrived has kicked the bucket. It had escaped hedge cutters for sometime despite being in the hedge line so was a little wide tree. With sloes of some size. Never mind. I might leave it this year, see if it just has gone to sleep early in this hot summer.

Sorry LIR - Sloes are a very handy thing. My Mother always made sloe gin & she didn't drink.
Managed to track down a wee digger, but will be Wednesday before we can get it - weather permitting!!!!0 -
Well, we still will have sloes, most of our hedges are black thorn and bramble
. This was just a special thing, you know?
Good going on the digger.0 -
oooo nooooo Choille. that is so bad.... what is the weather forcast for the next few days with you??
do you think the rain/water will ease off??
one of my cats haven't left me since we came home yesterday..you know what its like, laptop on lap and the cat is walking all over it to try and sit on you, purring its brains out lol..
right it is major cleaning time, got to get up off my butt... and find the energy from somewhereWork to live= not live to work0 -
Sad news about your track & bridge, choille.
It looks like this bout of nasty weather has been limited to certain areas, but by heck, it's rained where it has come down.Looking at the lightning strike pattern a day ago, I could see we were in a gap with none, while either side there were dozens.
Here, the rain has been short and sharp, but moderate in quantity, and valuable to everyone, except those who want to get their corn in soon. 'Thunder rain,' as Pete calls it, batters the crop down.
Hope you can get to the doc's soon.0
