im just off to finish a job getting houses ready for wedding guests. i was sorting/cleaning/dressing the stable cottage and could have knitted a jumper from the cobwebs ! and unfortunatly the demise of about 2000 spiders in the process
but i couldnt do the lounge as it has a huge glass turrett thing and it was way too hot to work there ! so im gonna do it now its cooled a bit
my old dogs are struggling a bit in this heat but i soak a towel and give em a rub... they love that..:)

Ooh, I just thought I saw lightning for a second, but it was the candle behind me reflecting off my mirror ball ( also behind me) on to the windo, in front of me.

Thunder all around us here and 'heavy rain' in Exeter, but just dribbling at present. It's been hot, but not as oppressive as it's obviously been further east. So glad we didn't opt for the south facing kitchen!
DW has gone norf to Brum to help DD1 pack up the rental, ready for the big move into 'new' house next week. I am here holding the fort, so a bit of rain to ease all the watering wouldn't go amiss. Naturally, I don't want it to spread as far as the New Forest until after the wedding. :A (Is it on Saturday?)
Not much to report. Organic neighbour let his field go a bit, but now he's imported a huge number of sheep to eat it down. Never seen so many. They aren't able to eat all the weeds that have grown behind the new fences, though. That must please Mr Dog, as his boundary is worst.0 -

Hot and humid here again this morning.
Thunder too, hope we get some rain to cool things down. Hope it stays dry for your roof tiling Dave
Feeling much better today, had a sleeping tablet last night...those things are bloomin' marvelous when my sleep gets badIt is a good idea to be alone in a garden at dawn or dark so that all its shy presences may haunt you and possess you in a reverie of suspended thought.

Gorgeous here. yesterday was gorgeous, but so midgied that even the lambs looked miserable with them & the cleggs.
Off to get a trailer to fetch table home.0 -

It's not happening yet. Apparently, some extra stuff has to be done before the edge tiles can be bedded down, using mortar rather than the plastic strip thing we had before.
Sleeping isn't a problem here. The kittens rise as early as we do, but generally stay quiet until then. Maybe another growth spurt now, because there was much less playing and more sleeping yesterday. Same this morning: mad play, food, bed!0 -
Morning! Very close again last night, after a very hot day.
Glad peeps are all feeling better and getting on top of their poorlies.
Dave I love seeing kittens grow up
I've got some chicks I've just hatched cheeping away in the kitchen. Something was not right this time, only six pipped, one let itself out but I had to help the rest out of their shells. But of those six I've only got two left, they just didn't thrive, had to despatch a couple and the other two went on their own. I think I'll check the incubator out with a separate monitor inside for temp and humidity...
Luckily the two survivors are of a very rare breed so that's good news, one is a bit bandy legged but is getting around ok now, we called him the weeble because he would keep falling over, I've only stood him up once so far today.
I've got a handful of duck eggs that I set at the same time so let's hope they hatch better.
Well we're going to attack the garden again today, get lots of plants in so all that rain tomorrow is put to good use  looks horrendous, hope the forecast isn't right.
Have a good day!0
