Maybe an idea would be to encourage it. As well as the 'vinegar' notice about dogs on lead/ private land maybe a honey one when you have boglets or when planting hedges. I'd try and plant local hedges, maybe stick a couple of cheapies local varity easy fruit trees with a little sign saying what they are and ' feel free to pick, in thanks for crossing our land with care'
That kind of thing.....0 -

Well I bloody never, that author was my tutor at uni, back in the day (1998-2000!) so this is what he's up to now, I must have a read...what's it like IHS ? Is it newly published?
EDIT: no! it's from 1992, way before my time! I wonder if it has dated at all? Wonder if he's still teaching?!0 -
FK...:rotfl::rotfl: it wont have dated much as its early 20th century gardens...0

Just had a surreal hour. Met a lady by the rubbish sacks, who informed me she is 'cat sitting' down at the barns.
She said she wasn't techie and could I help, please, because the TV was 'on the computer' and there isn't much to do here!
Oh dear, it was a bloomin' Apple Mac, which I've no experience of whatsoever, so even switching it on was quite a feat. Then it couldn't find its mouse, until I realised that tiny thing underneath was a switch....
Meanwhile, different cats walked around over the keyboard, including a very wet one that seemed to take a liking to me.
Anyway, after what seemed an age and many false starts, we finally achieved an episode of Casualty or Holby City ....whatever...but the lady then became somewhat distressed and decided she couldn't possibly watch anything, as she'd not know how to turn it all off again!
It turned out that she has no computer at home, so it was really asking a bit much to expect her to pilot that bit of kit.
Last I saw of her, she was off for a walk, in the rain! :rotfl:0 -
Nice picture of a thrush, CTC. We don't see many of those here; just the odd one now and again. You'm lucky.
And yes, those are DW's hands, always well protected with gardening gloves.
Gertrude Jekyll probably wore gloves too, but it's her boots that are famous. Not many women have had their boots painted for posterity......:undecided0
