Guinea fowl would be good, but remember, Mr Dog traps animals and, according to others, "shoots anything that moves.":(COOLTRIKERCHICK wrote: »I personally would have a couple of guniea fowl, and place them up by him... by the way has your bucket of plant feed started to ferment yet? is it ;ponging' enough to get on his nerves lol..

The comfrey water is smelling pretty bad now, but the wind has been in the wrong direction for ages. It fooled me when I was last up there strimming. I caught a whiff and thought "drains!" before remembering.

Saw the building control man today and he seems pleasant and helpful enough. Finally made almost intelligent contact with the structural engineer too, but he's off on 2 weeks holiday now.....He's welcome to his holiday, but I've waited 2 weeks for him to answer my last email. More 'dreckly!'
....Which reminds me, I saw Pete today. Yet again, I reminded him that I owe hundreds of £ for last November's fencing....."Oh that's nuthin," he says, "sometimes us puts in a bill for something we did over a year backalong!" :rotfl:0 -

Mr BD is enjoying the World Cup but I must have missed the 'World Cup' wheelbarrows last time Dave. Did they have footballs painted on them?
No, too complicated. It was just a red cross on a white backgound, but like our team, it soon faded.

No rain here. Just sun. Its been beautiful. One of the prettiest summers.
Garden peaked too early though, the once flowering roses are on the wane, the big poppies exhausted, the lupin seed heads cut back twice!
One of the camellias is still going a little mind you. That's about four months I think?0 -

That Indian bean tree I thought was dead? Very much alive. The fox glove tree too, covered with leaves now. I saw one some where else about the same size as mine would have been and gave it a tap and that too sounded hollow. Maybe they are just hollow when young. Oh well! I'll see what happens with its shape in the future. If I'm lucky a shoot that can be a new sort of central leader will form, if not I'll thing about trying to keep it smaller, hard pruning for leaves.....but, I do like the flowers.0

Baking hot, but we're starting to get the roof on the garage. This suits our builder friend much better, as he's a joiner not a brickie, but he's done a fine job of raising the walls and straightening out most wonkiness. He can't help it that the garage is actually a few inches wider at the back! :rotfl:
We've been using blocks left over from the barn build last year and a bit of the wood too, so it's all good.

Sounds like you are making good progress with your garage Dave. Good weather helps too

Chilly and some rain yesterday, cloudy and chilly again today. But in more hope than expectation I have put the washing out.... line hoisted up by a winch that I purchased online which is rather larger than I anticipated but certainly does the job! Looks strong enough to hoist up the tree that the line is tied to.
Ohh sun just broken through the clouds, perhaps we will have a warmer day today. It is a good idea to be alone in a garden at dawn or dark so that all its shy presences may haunt you and possess you in a reverie of suspended thought.

We're hoping it'll be weather-tight before the wet stuff returns. Just hope we're as lucky with the kitchen roof.Better_Days wrote: »Sounds like you are making good progress with your garage Dave. Good weather helps too

Picking up the extension to the chicken house today and kittens come some time at the weekend. Mum has had enough, left them and gone back to the barn. We have removed all the ornaments from the house! :rotfl:0
