alfie 1, sorry to hear you are in so much pain - chronic pain is no joke. Do you have a pain clinic at your local hospital who might be able to help? I take it surgery is not an option in your case?

We had a couple of cooler days but it is sooo hot today, 33 degrees.

Just been to look at a house - probate, rather sad and rather smelly. There was a lumpy bed in one of the bedrooms, the agent advised us not to look under the covers. Apparently it was a straw mattress rather the worse for wear, to put it mildly .

We have decided that we will keep looking for what we want until October/November. If no luck we will buy a fixer upper (nothing structural though) - probably will be a probate sale, stay there for a year or so until the market picks up and then try again.

Love the photo of the kids :)

    Here's our very first courgette's:

    Courgettes,

    Darn it.

That's what I want to eat.

(No veg patch this year, I am wondering round wondering what we should be eating, of course, its courgettes of boredom by now)

You need to getter the larger one picked or it will stop flowering.

I picked the second diddy courgette yesterday (yellow round ones that were a Christmas present) to keep the plants producing as they are still rather small.

And my first outdoor cucumber - all 5 inches of it but again want to promote additional flowering.

(Whisper) had the first ever flowers on a watermelon; the sole survivor of four that sprouted from some very old seed. Hoping against hope........ for lots of new seed and a bit of fun spitting.

Yes, we picked our first little courgettes yesterday and today, gave away two already :rotfl::rotfl:

Hot and sweaty as we've just stacked another 4 cu metres of logs, softwood, straight in the garage as they were lovely and dry.

After moaning about lack of bids things have started selling, though payments aren't keeping pace

Breeze picking up, weather about to change, oh for a cool night's sleep!

Looking grey and sultry here. (and that's only me!)

Despite the new shading in the poly, we still hit 37c. I suppose it's better than 41c. :(

The blackbird that was nicking the toms isn't our tame one, which was scrabbling about happily with DW all afternoon as she cut back all the gone-over perennials. He's a carnivore, mostly, and damn good at it. We have netted the ripe toms, but our show entry is stuffed. :(

Down in the stream bed, I noticed something had dug up my marshmallow. There was a very neat hole and the mallow lying beside it. I replanted.

We've had courgettes for a couple of weeks now, but the quality has been iffy at times. Half of them go to the hens anyway.

OK so I have a prediction to make: Rummer's having a boy and he'll be here on January 20th

Sorry to hear of all the aches pains and injuries, I feel for you! It's no fun being overweight in this either... as I know to my cost.

Rummer a wee one on the way - that's wonderful. How absolutely marvellous. A Rummerette.

My garden is a disgrace. Wandered across this afternoon to get some rasps, only to watch a female blackbird scoffing the last ripe ones. It looked at me as if I had no business being there - must admit I've been a stranger to the veg plot....lost the plot somewhat.

The roof is getting there - in this heat too.

Alfie, my sympathies with the pain. Have you tried acupuncture? Some GPs can do it for free.
OH is going to a pool for his aches & pains & it's specially for that after being diagnosed with hip probs. He can't go very often but it's really helped alot & getting an excercise regime worked out/tailored to him by the person there. It's nearly 70 miles away but he goes when we go for the shop.

CTC I took your advice to heart and I made myself a batch of Twinks Hobnobs to keep my energy and spirits up :D

The front garden looks so much better than it did, still a lot to do on the borders and grass but the paths and drive are weed free and the ivy is a bit less unruly so it is all heading in the right direction :j
