Rhiw sorry to hear you are surrounded by family that are under the weather or having a difficult time. Sounds like you have all pulled together though which is lovely
Well big decisions for me today. Do I cut the hedge or weed???? It is quite dull and cloudy today and it has a feel of rain in the air so I think that I should get a bit of gardening done at least.Taking responsibility one penny at a time!0 -
Cut the hedge, Weeding is easier after it rains. We put the lagoon water on the garden this weekend and weeded some, having done the hedge last week.0

Rummer
Chuffed for you. Hope the sickness wears off. And whilst it is so hot (not so much here today, thank goodness but...) please make sure you keep the fluid intake up as much as possible.
By the way, am evidence that it is possible to grow gardening assistants; my first experience was a gorgous disaster as love in the mist seed blew out of my infant hand across the lawn, which looked wonderful when they flowered.
However I was helping sort apples at the age of four and setting lines and covering the seed drills in the vegetable garden a year or so later. As an early teen I used to finish my homework and go out and help in the vegatable patch by the light of the adjecent street lamp. It was that or go hungry so the motivation was there. If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing0 -
morning all...
wow, its like "casualty" on here....:o
well im off to docs at 12... to push for an mri on my hip area. saw a pleb last week [stand in] who gave me anti inflamitories !! even tho i said they did nothing...
iv read all symptoms etc for this spongy thingy and it is def not this.
i have to catch lori, the bratt mini tomorow for farrier so will kiss goodbye to my back/hip for a few days...:rotfl::rotfl:
went to see all the gypsies yesterday. there was LOADS of horses...:D some a bit iffy but most tip top. upsets me when they start em off too young in the cart/sulky tho... no chance for thier bones/strength etc to mature...
and yes i was tempted by the poor looking one tied to a tree that i fetched water for in a pub ice bucket...;)0 -

Our experience of the gypsy horse breeders here has not been good, flygrazing the cobs all over the Vale coupled with awful neglect. Ringleaders jailed this month.
Casualty? When we have a family get together, guess where the conversation goes with our kids and their spouses: One emergency registrar (about to get married to another doctor!), two cancer researchers, and one spinal surgery equipment salesman who spends much of his time in theatre. "Interesting" work experiences tend to be all too bloody and far too graphic for my squeamish nature:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

Well so far I have done a combination of both
I cut the hedge around the driveway to make getting the car in and out less of a mental and physical challenge and I have weeded half the drive. Just having a fruit break before going out to finish the weeding. My daughter is weeding one of the borders and have managed a few inches in a couple of hours, however she is helping
Just checked the weather forecast and it is due to rain for the rest of the week so I want to get as much (within reason) done out in the garden as I can. LIR I think you are right about the weeding of the borders as the soil is rock hard and it is tough getting things out. We will focus on the drive and the paths and worry about the borders if and when the rain stops
This year I seem to have an overwhelming amount of sage, any good ideas as to what to do with it other than stuffing? It is not a herb I have used to any great effect.Taking responsibility one penny at a time!0 -

I think rhiwie is correct although normal simple culinary use may be ok (in stews etc).
It is also reputed to reduce lactation and traditionally used to help "drying off."
Avoid pennyroyal as well (not that you are as likely to have that). If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing0 -
Oh I didn't know that so thank you for the info!
Warming up quite a bit here after a chilly start to the day. We are now 2/3 through the weeding of the front paths/drive and it is looking much better already. Tiring work so I am not going to do much more today I think.
Almost time to turn my thoughts to cooking, we are trying out a whole range of new recipes this week as we were so bored of the meals we had been eating. So far everything I have made has been a real hitTaking responsibility one penny at a time!0 -
well doctor has told me my xrays show no abnormality of my hip and that it is all from radiated pain from syrnx/spongythingy.... poop.
just got mega dose of painkillers... which i hate taking but needs must.
my theory is that if i numb it by PK ,i cant see/tell if ive made it worse and its just masked which leads to using PK for too long. im soooo not into popping PK's...
the sun is shining here still, slight breeze, lightening flashes last night over IOW but otherwise no sign of the wet stuff..
i have a huge amount of gardening debri to burn but am a bit scared to light the match to even half of it in this weather... bit too near the trees.....
farrier tomorow... have placed add for a likkle riding pony for friends GD... will see whats out there.
loooove the goats !0
