Builders juggle. Its the nature of the job. Just like those who garden juggle, and planned housework days become gardening days in the right weather, or gardening days become days we frustratedly do something else.
Anything that relies on the weather is subject to juggling.
I was going to weed a bit today, but now more rain is forecast I think I'll wait. Let the ground get softer still, and then should be able to whip through it faster mainly my hand.0 -
Regarding weed membrane, I can confirm that nothing comes through it if you have the right stuff.
If it is thick, woven polypropylene it is right, but if it's spun bonded thin stuff, tough weeds will go straight through. Price is key - our last roll,100m x 4m, cost well over £200 at trade price.
I would imagine one to two years is the answer as to how long it takes on weeds. On the nursery, we had some down and walked about on it for 5 - 7 years. We are still re-using that now. I've also been parking the car on some here for around 3 years; that's how tough it is! :cool:0 -
Money It is as the others have said common for builders and other professionals to be juggling a variety of clients however that does not make it any less frustrating and they should be upfront about their reasons for reorganising dates.
It is cloudy today so better weather for gardening as yesterday I was wilting a bit with the digging :rotfl:Taking responsibility one penny at a time!0 -
Just been out to vote. Our local councillor bod was there to welcome us, which he did, clearly not knowing who we were.:o
On our way out he greeted us again, this time warmly and by name, as if we'd known him long times. My immediate impression was he'd done all that the wrong way round!
Then I gave it more consideration and reasoned,"Usually the only time you see me and my name together, is when I'm wearing silly clothes and covered in make-up! Anyway, you didn't know me two minutes ago."
Then I realised; the Village Hall is very quiet. It's the ideal place to hear who everyone is, if you just sneak up to the door and listen as the two Election Officers repeat names to each other.
Hmmmmmm.....;)
Well, I didn't vote for his lot anyway! :rotfl:0 -
Most beautiful thunderstorm started here.
I LOVE summer storms. Does mean I am changing my mind about going to the supermarket though. As I am out of milk its a black coffee for me while I enjoy the show.0 -
evening all...:):)
OK DAVEY BOY.... beat this for an "alfie style" blip...:p
DO NOT CLOSE A METAL WINDOW WITH A METAL HANDLE DURING A THUNDER/LIGHTENING STORM..... IT HURTS !!!:o
BUT WHAT A SPECTACULAR "STORM" WE HAD HERE. THE THUNDER WAS LIKE JETS GOING OVER WITH ARMY TANKS ON THE GROUND VIBRATIONS...
AND STUNNING LIGHTENING.. THE SKY WENT FROM PINK TO BLUE AND BACK AGAIN...:D:D
apart from learning/repeating new swear words that i didnt even know i knew... ive had a relatively quiet day...
nellie the "borrowed/never went home" mini shetty is in with lami now !! we just have too much grass. there is 10 [plus 2 useless sheep] on a small paddock and the grass is growing faster than they eat it seemsgardener has put his JD mower over the next paddock for me ,it will look like wimbeldon soon !!:D :rotfl:
i hope everyone had a safe day.
has anyone heard from choille ? i think i read they were suffering joints wise. not surprising as it has always seemed they have the toughest life/deal than all of us.. hope they are ok.
re builders... i have to ask myself "have i ever told a whoppa " to juggle work... YEP
work gets done tho...;)0 -

Lovely looking border! :j Watch the alchemilla mollis though - it will seed everywhere if you don't cut the flowers down before they seed! We have it all over the back garden, but we don't mind really at present - but we do keep an eye on it, and take it out where it doesn't fit... in theory! :rotfl:
The flowers are great for a bit of zing in a bouquet. And I love the way the raindrops form droplets on the leaves. :j

That's a colourful border combination IHS, but I think you might find persicaria superbum a bit of a handful! I have released some down by the stream and I fully expect it to run a long way. Friends of ours have some covering an area of about 25 x 25m in their 4.5 acre garden.
'Darjeeling Red' is a good doer too, but not so huge.;)
Not much rain and no thunder here today. Quite fresh in fact.We planted many of MiL's primroses in the hedges and noted our first Lady's Smock in the bottom field
The last of our donated legbar eggs actually hatched (the other two didn't.... quite:() but the chick was later found dead some distance from our broody, Doris, who didn't seem the least interested in the whole process. Normally, our broody hens have been grumpy and highly protective of the chicks, but Doris just seems to like sitting.....Oh well, back to the Job Centre for her!
Oh, and we visited the kittens......:D
