Topsoil arriving tomorrow.
Feels exciting. Really exciting! I have spotted a specialist nursery I want to go to as well, about an hour and a Half from here, I might do tha in the pouring rain on Saturday, A one of investment in plants for a lifetime of cuttings hopefully......0 -
sounds interesting LIR.....
Didn't you look into all the legal stuff about supplying eggs LIR?
I would love to speak to someone who has been passed as a producer, to find out what happens and what they look for when they inspect, an what criteria do they look for etc,
also how do you treat/dose for samanella ? It is worth me finding out all this, even if we don't go ahead and do it now... I might just breed quail to sell in the auctions, or sell the fertile eggs etc..But I would like to have all options open...
right off to have a cuppa..Work to live= not live to work0 -
Gave up the garden this afternoon after showers turned to heavy rain - at least it's keeping the new turf watered...
Potted up 7 seedlings of centaurea montana (perennial cornflower) I found; it does well with me, the huge clump I divided a few weeks back is romping away. The astilbe I moved into a sunnier position has also responded with a growth spurt.
Also lifted three panicum virgatum 'Heavy Metal' grasses which were languishing in shade and wet soil. Moving to full sun should cheer them up.
Obviously 'right plant, right place' is key to good results in Scotland where the season is much shorter and positioning needs to be optimal.
On a positive note, looks like the water is finally under control in the garden. After downpours this morning which charged the drywells, any further rain causes the water to start running from the pipes and away to the drains so no puddles of standing water any more!:)0 -

Ohh Alfie you're back
Hows things cooking? It is a good idea to be alone in a garden at dawn or dark so that all its shy presences may haunt you and possess you in a reverie of suspended thought.
