Still here..........still stocktaking. Thanks for the dummies guide to picture posting will try and post one later, DS1 did sell another puppy last night, 2 dogs puppies to sell.

Ventured into Homebase and got some veg plants. A couple were looking a little sad so got 50p knocked off, came out and realised I had a voucher for 10% off so annoyed with myself. Also spotted a bunny in the garden which will have to be sorted before we can plant out.

:j:j:j The shady border is now clear :j:j:j

I am so impressed with myself and my gardening achievements :rotfl: When I finished the bed I gave Rumlet a little speech and you were all mentioned as sources of inspiration :rotfl:

The whole thing was filled with a combination of creepy butter cups, giant mean spiky things and some hideously difficult to remove spreading thing with yellow flowers  Now however there is a peony, bleeding heart, one bluebell, the unidentified pink flowering thing and two clumps of another unidentified nice leaved plant :D

Hubby tackled the nettles at the back of the garden and made a start on clearing the brambles and giant tangle of thing that has taken down the fence. There is currently a slightly collapsed lattice fence between us and the neighbours on that side so we need to clear it up and patch the fence as best we can until we can both afford to put up a proper fence.

Tonight I am going to give real thought to the planting plan and then I can pop the current plants I have in and then pick up the ones I want when I have spare pennies.

The back garden is really coming together and I am loving the way it looks already. There are still oodles of things to do however every little thing we do is adding to the calm and beauty of it all.

As for the pots, what pink/white/blue/purple flowering things should I be planting in them? Anything I can just scatter seeds for would be ideal as I am running out of window ledges and greenhouse space. If needs be I can get plug plants however I am keen to direct my money to plants for the borders :D
Taking responsibility one penny at a time!

    Scorchio! (OK, 14°C)

Hope everyone is getting the sun. It's been glorious in Glasgow, I've been wearing my sun hat while working in the garden. Come in now as I was wilting...

May do a bit more later in the evening so the plants don't get stressed.

First of the tulips have indeed opened...

    I've been Money Tipped!
Those are lovely tulips! Do you know what they are?

Our white tulips are over, and the big flourish of ones that were meant to be darker apricots but came up various flames , red and yellow are in full flow. This patch give me a night mare as not only do I not love them, but if cannot STAND red and yellow together and so I have to run out every morning and pick the yellows ( of which there are fewer ) so that I feel comfortable.

Thought we'd done ok, but just seen a tee we missed planting. I THINK its a vibernum of some sort but not sure, so not really sure were to put it.

We been out in back garden, OH mowed the lawn not done since prob September!

I've been lawn edging with my half moon thingy, and have managed to clear about 10 ft of it. Need to get out tomorrow to clear the rest I've edged but not cleared, but it's more urgent to get to Lottie to do work there right now. We'd have been there today except the lawn mowing was more urgent! <roll eyes thingy that's disappeared>

Also managed to rip out some bluebells (the nasty Spanish ones) but have a LOT more to tackle. :( They are thugs and spread like fury, seem to have overtaken some plants I thought we had here. :( Other thug we have is in front garden - variegated periwinkle. Love the flowers, but it is trying to take over our garden and make a move into next door too. We've already moved some of it to the back wire fence (owned by university) to try grow it up for more privacy, the stuff we rip out will be planted up there too.

Off to bed shortly as aching from bending from sitting in chair to do weeding. Can't kneel any more as can't get up from kneeling. :o Totally knackered today!

we have family of bunnies. They sit in the chicken food trough and steal the food. I think I may be fattening them up...

Made my first ebay sale this morning when the chap turned up to collect the Dutch lights from the old greenhouse. :D

Because others have pointed out how stupid buyers can be, I advertised the sizes of the panels very clearly and re-iterated when this chap phoned. Despite that, he still turned up in a piddling little van! :wall:

At least he was honest and paid me for the lot, even though he could only get half of them in. He'll be back for the rest......in July, as he lives 150miles away and only visits here a few times a year. :(

Moving on to sell the big mower now.....

  • Been thinking that there's no sign of Phoebe recently.

Are you around Phoebe? Wondering how the massive house renovation project is going or whether you're lying under a pile of rubble somewhere despairing about the house ever being finished?
