    I've been Money Tipped!
Trying to remember what we paid for our last load of logs (in December) and think it was around £80 for a flatbed truck load......actually that seems a bit cheap so maybe I've got it wrong, lol! We need to get on with chopping more of our own timber as it seems daft to be paying for it when we needn't - there was a lot left here by the PO in an old carport - but something else always seems to get in the way :o

£80 sounds good, depending on how big the truck is! Was it seasoned? You were lucky to get left some wood. All we got left was a load of junk, broken flowerpots, plant labels and a barren garden. OTOH the 'lawn' is so dreadful I don't mind the chickens ruining it :D:D:D
It is a good idea to be alone in a garden at dawn or dark so that all its shy presences may haunt you and possess you in a reverie of suspended thought.

I use celeriac a lot. I make a root mash using celeriac, carrot and swede. MMM lovely. Also carrot and celeriac soup is good.

Off to York this weekend for a hen party. Was looking forward to it but everybody is falling out!

Glad Dad is on the mend, phoebe. :)

I think the tree planting will come to a natural halt today as the weather turns. We've broken the back of it anyway, unless the order I sent a few weeks ago turns up after all. It's been such a narrow window for the work, bearing in mind that the areas concerned couldn't be planted in the autumn, having just been carved out with the digger.

We still haven't had a bill from Pete for the November fencing! :rotfl:

I read that the cider orchards in Somerset may be badly affected by waterlogging. Apparently, the very thin fibrous roots can't take submersion for long, but damage to them doesn't show up till blossom time, when the demands on the tree are at their highest. The result can be sudden death, so the orchard owners are keeping everything crossed.

We've lost at least half a dozen apple trees in the last few years, and I think it's inevitable that more will go in 2014. Luckily, we haven't re-fenced the orchard yet, but by mid summer we should have a clearer idea of how things will go there.

I'm sure your piggies would love sugar beet, CTC. :DThey grow swedes around here, but never spill any on the roads. It's mostly maize, however, so the main harvest is late in the year.

Did you warm up nicely in the end CTC? It's horrible being cold, so energy sapping. I am a massive fan of electric blankets, they cost peanuts to run and are have a very high 'toasty' quotient. Have been tempted to buy one of those heated fleece blankets but they are rather pricey......

Good idea about the pub trip to rustle up some customers, perhaps you should have some beer mats printed up with CTC Pork ads!

Weakened yesterday and bought some more seeds from T&M - just can't resist all the pretty pictures on the website, but not sure where we are going to find the space to grow them all. There is always that time just before the frosts end when it seems like we are surrounded by seedlings waiting to go out. Will have to be extra careful this year as the chickens will scoff the lot given half a chance.

Chilly again here this morning, but is some sunshine :) off to the nurse this afternoon to have my 'new patient' check - hope it will be OK, never know which way HCP's will jump when it comes to ME, some are very dismissive.

Morning! I am ridiculously busy on Wednesdays so sorry for not posting :o

It was warm and clear yesterday so we went into town to hunt out camping clothes :D Today however there is lashing rain and howling winds and I need to go out later so I am unamused, although it will let me try my new raincoat :rotfl:
