Chicken tales for you today.......
Just drifting off to sleep last night when I heard a chicken sqwaking. Oh no I thought, not my other 3 chickens. Mr BD was out rehearsing for his panto (he is playing Sherlock Holmes this year). So I got up with a torch and scuttled into the garden and peered into the shed window. Chickens roosting at various points round the shed - counted - one, two, three, all OK. Sigh of relief.
I was in the shed this morning sorting out a heat pad (one of those pet ones that you put in the microwave) for the chicken that has the least feathers and is still looking a bit sorry for herself. Have wrapped it in carboard, newspaper and shavings and put her in a cat carrier so she can really warm up.
Mr BD has also put an old rabbit hutch in the shed and at night we are going to put the chickens in there so they can snuggle together and keep warm.
Stepped out of the shed and blow me if there wasn't a chicken sauntering along from behind the shed. Dang I thought, one of them has escaped. Looked back into the shed and counted - one, two, three. The chicken I thought I had lost yesterday had come home!!!!!
I don't think I have ever been so happy to count to four
Got a broom and herded her into the shed - our little flock is now complete again :j:j:j:jIt is a good idea to be alone in a garden at dawn or dark so that all its shy presences may haunt you and possess you in a reverie of suspended thought.

Oh she has some gorgeous flower arrangements!Take a look at some of her wedding flowers - really fab! :j I follow her on Twitter, not that I've spent much time on Twitter over the last few weeks... Been too busy shopping the online sales!
I suspect it'll take months to sort out MiL's flat, LiR. Plus we still have to get our own old home cleared - need to get it on the market ASAP or we'll end up with CGT liability, :eek: And I have such limitited capability.Still absolutely shattered post Xmas plus the Twins near week visit before followed by the rotten cold they donated to us that left us in an awful rush to get everything done. I'm worried it's time to get some seeds in already and I'll miss the window of opportunity. Have bells of Ireland that it would be good to get going, even if I have to do them in pots outside... Think they don't really like being transplanted, but if don't get them started soon will be too late - apparently they need frost to germinate.

So, we have a booking for an event here on the yard in spring.......the weekend DH and I were going to go away, lol.
Still, gives us some time to get the outside looking a bit smarter. Its only one day, but I'd like to try and get some snaps and use it for some publicity. They'd be a good potential client base too.0 -
Wahey!!! Return of the prodigal chicken
:T
So we were wrong. Better call that one 'Lucky.'
I still have last years Panto script for Sherlock if DH needs inspiration, though our guy was actually called 'Sheerluck.'0 -
Thanks everyone :beer::beer:
Great to share some good news:D:D:D
Davesnave Sheerluck Holmes is the Panto that Mr BD is doing! Playing at the end of February. They were queuing up when the tickets went on sale last week and some nights already sold out. A continual wonder to me - but the good people of Pakenham clearly do not have much excitement in February:rotfl::rotfl:The WI do a block booking of 40 seats - not bad for a village hallIt is a good idea to be alone in a garden at dawn or dark so that all its shy presences may haunt you and possess you in a reverie of suspended thought.
