  • Our very good friend who has been helping us up the ranch has just thrown a spanner in the works.. as he remembered his father had bought an old Victorian 'thing' that he was going to put into his farmhouse in france 20 plus years ago, but never did, and the farmhouse has now been sold... he wants a 'token' payment of £20 for it... there is bits missing, BUT???

will try and load the pictures for you to see once I find the camera lead lol

Sounds interesting CTC - really intrigued now ;)

BD - sorry to hear about your issues with the council and the PO taking the brown bin, glad you seem to have it sorted :)

LIR - sorry you didn't get far with your big plans to make the most of the good weather :( We also had a rather frustrating day, mainly due to builders' merchant not having the materials DH needed (and closing early on a Sat) and not wanting to go all the way to Salisbury to Been & Queued (as the Landy is booked in for a new alternator on Monday and didn't want it to go en route). Even so he did manage to get a bit of work done in what will be a sitting room. Just need to get hold of the guy to plaster the ceiling now as DH isn't keen on doing those :o Take it easy this evening and rest that ankle if you can :)

  • BD.. would it better ( and £40 a year cheaper) to build a double pallet compost bin in a corner of the garden?

Cant find the flipping camera leads... ( used spare small camera)

    LIR what a flipping poo....

TBH I have wasted most of the day, by 'faffing' round doing booooger all, except go to the ranch.. and still haven't made up my mind where things will go/fit in the kitchen and the room behind.. Thing My stonemason now thinks I am bonkers...lol...

Hope your ankle goes down LIR - Frustrating when things don't work - I hate that.

CTC - Is it a stove thingy?

Rained this morning & quite thick ice in patches from last night. Dried up in the afternoon & managed out for an hour or so, but the wind is ice & cut you in two. Really clear sky - that white colour of cold sky.

Off to shut the hens in & fish Polly - Polly is a young rooster with PTSD out of a tree...........

Lovely day here. managed to get some washing on the line and been for a walk. Off with a friend later on to go and view a companion for her horse. Not sure he's going to be the one as she has a native with cushings and is viewing a TB. Trying to stop her will be difficult.....

my BARNEY was a TB and was companion to my old NF pony. barney had had a hoof injury and left in a field to....rot :( so i had him ...for 7 years and he was a gallant big old boy...loved him.
pony and he were chalk and cheese but loved each other.
bit of a faff with rugs but minor detail for the joy he gave:)

Like many of you, we enjoyed glorious weather today with virtually no wind. This meant we had perfect conditions to sort the old greenhouse into saleable sections (Dutch lights) and scrap.

We've not finished, but at present we have 26 double lights, complete with very rickety frames. We also have a considerable amount of broken glass in a dumpy bag and enough fire lightings for a week.:D

I'm hoping the recent gales will cause someone to seek Dutch lights on eBay, or maybe they'll see them and decide to self-build a greenhouse. Personally, I wouldn't do the latter, as horticultual glass is dangerous stuff.

If they don't sell, I'll Freegle them. :)

So, like you, lir, there's very little to show for the lovely day, but we've almost cleared one corner of the big barn, ready for the big re-shuffle as we begin moving things from the house and into self-storage. ;)
