    I've been Money Tipped!
    Morning all.

Looking forward to next week. Stove being delivered on Tuesday and installed on Thursday.:):):)

Spent 54 minutes on the phone yesterday trying to sort out Charlie's pet insurance, wore me out - but I did manage to save £90 :D Rang Britannia BS to tell them I have moved, went through endless menu's only to be informed that I have to write and tell them.

Very nice lady at the council rang me and asked why I had ordered a brown bin (for garden waste). Well, because we don't have one I told her, and the seller of the property has left a lot of garden waste we need to get rid of. But she said, there is a brown bin registered to the property. Seller must have taken it with her - appears the seller was trying to save the £5 the LA charge to deliver a new brown bin (plus the £40 a year you have to pay if you want a brown bin). So the LA are going to track her and her brown bin down!

Still the nice lady at the council is going to arrange for us to have a shiny new brown bin and she has also sent me loads of leaflets of what can be put in the various bins as it is different from our previous LA. And when I have read all the leaflets they can then go in the recycling too:D:D

Have put in my appeal against the council tax band - received acknowledgement yesterday, and also asked the council to consider a 'disabled person's reduction' so hopefully one way or another we will get this property banded more fairly.

Got a pink letter on Tuesday from the council wanting to know why we hadn't paid our council tax. Rang them up and said I had set up a DD online. Oh she says that software isn't very good, we have a lot of problems with it not working.

So I had to pay the o/s Council Tax, then ring up the next day to set up the DD. Couldn't all be done on the same day as it would 'confuse' the computer system. Dearie me. It's a shame 'confused' computer systems don't get pink letters threatening to take them to court if they don't deliver what was promised.

Lovely day here. managed to get some washing on the line and been for a walk. Off with a friend later on to go and view a companion for her horse. Not sure he's going to be the one as she has a native with cushings and is viewing a TB. Trying to stop her will be difficult.....

CTC Mr BD refers to it as 'going over to the dark side'. Although we only moved a few miles we now fall under the 'protection' of a different LA. This LA charges £40 a year, on top of your council tax, if you want a brown bin, plus a £5 fee to deliver it.

Lovely and sunny here today, hope it lasts - tomorrow is the first day of freedom for our new chickens, I hope they are as excited as I am. Coop has been cleaned, run secured - it even has some grass, which I doubt will last long.

  • brown bin must be 'general non-recycables'?? If this is the case, then it will prob be rolled out with other councils over time..

Our very good friend who has been helping us up the ranch has just thrown a spanner in the works.. as he remembered his father had bought an old Victorian 'thing' that he was going to put into his farmhouse in france 20 plus years ago, but never did, and the farmhouse has now been sold... he wants a 'token' payment of £20 for it... there is bits missing, BUT???

will try and load the pictures for you to see once I find the camera lead lol

Well, that's been a frustrating day,

Hedge cutter ( just repaired) packed up in seconds. This dh use's more than a strimmer and its the most used tool we own apart from lawn mower. In fact maybe more than mower even.

This beggared up plans and we ended up getting little done. The real strimmer is laughed at by the brambles etc.

We tried lighting it with parafin burner anyway, but everything's still too wet.

Tried painting but paint thingy is being difficult and by then was approaching half one and didn't want to pain on too late any wy because of being dry by this evening.

Algae already creeping where I painted before Christmas :(. Will try armatillox.

Split a couple of logs and were about to start chain sawing when realised it was dog and chicken time again. My ankle is the size of Wales and I'm sitting with it up now. :(. What a waste of a great day.

CTC the brown bin is for garden waste - plants, small branches, grass cuttings. Here we also have a black bin with a green lid for recyclable plastic and paper and tins, and a black bin for landfill. In our old LA the black bin with a green lid was a blue bin.

Ohhh, I'm intrigued - what is this 'Victorian thing'? The mind boggles:rotfl:
