Fingers crossed for Rummer & Rumlet :male: :j

I was set to have a nice gardening-type day as I waved the ladies off this morning (DD1 here) , but within 20 minutes I had Pete phoning to say he was bringing the sheep across from the Horse Woman's paddock.

So, it was catch sheep and learn about foot trimming..... :o

Pete brought a Mitsubishi load of logs with him, so I got those under cover.

Then I noticed that the shelving I put up in the barn the other day wasn't quite level. Although I tried to ignore it, I couldn't. There are 21 shelves and the entire middle section was squiffy. So down they came! By the time I'd sorted that, it was lunchtime. :(

In the afternoon I did some pruning, especially the dogwoods in the willow grove. They haven't been done for a long time - not since 2007 at the most recent, or perhaps never. :o

I forgot to mention, one of the Marans has laid a couple of eggs. They aren't like the picture the seller put on eBay, but they're nice enough. :)

All the best to the Rums.

I didn't even know Harry Potter was on :o
Don't throw things at me....... We had a 3 bird roast followed by choccie cheesecake & settled down to watch the New Year Concert from Vienna.

Another filthy night on it's way.:( Waves of 10m+ expected to coincide with high tides, heavy rainfall & gales.
Sorry, alfie. I know you probably don't need to hear that at the moment.
We went shopping today & the roads were already well awash in places.

Hope you shift the colds soon, rhiwie.

oh, lots worse off than me :o

the river here has floodgates that are um...well umm..useless :( the powers that be that built them seem to not have had a spirit level ;) water goes DOWN the road not OVER the road :p

the forest is a lake again and trees galore are down. the wind at night seems to do most damage :(

when i went to see pops yesterday the road along side him was well under water. there was a digger trenching, drain clearer lorries and cones everywhere and there isnt a river in sight, just sheer volume of water !

i must admit i do just fly through it if i can judge depth.... the low front of my van acts like a snow plough :D
i know, i know i will get it wrong one day....plus side is those that dont know what i look like will see me either on the news or HHills burps :D:D

    morning all,

LIR sadly to say I am getting a bit normal in my old age..

Weather is bad out there, but not as bad as I thought at the moment, but I know there is thunder and lightening somewhere in SW as people are saying their electric has gone off..

I am sure someone said we have this type of weather through January, do you think this is right ITSME??

The natural resource wales guy phoned yesterday, and is coming out to see us on Wednesday... to give us some advice etc... told him to expect a phone call in the spring when we start spraying for the knotweed... so he has put it on file, so if/when they get a complaint about that, they already know...

right off to make a cuppa,

Rummer... hope you are ok. not long now... deep breaths, and make sure you have some nice tea bags and biscwits in for when you come home... thinking about you honeykins...

We've had thunder & torrential rain here, but right now it's very mixed, with evil looking clouds at the back of the house and blue sky at the front. I can see Exmoor, but not Dartmoor.

The river cams show nothing exceptional, Im glad to say.

Hail getting thrown against the windows in Glasgow and some serious gusts; I was expecting packages from sales items bought online - will they make it?

Anyway, can only work with inside plants at the moment -

Numerous hippeastrum, cacti, African violets, tradescantia, orchids, Christmas cactus, hyacinths in tin pot and an aloe offset I potted up. I need more windowsill...:)

Well, it's winter, innit? :D To be fair this can happen at any time of year. Both Boscastle & the Lynmouth flood (when so many lost their lives) happened in August.

I think what's unusual is the number & frequency of the storm fronts.

Our power has been on & off like Sexy Barney's Light Show. So far only for very short periods. I think the worst of the high winds are still to come.
It certainly put the wind up Colin Brazier from Sky who's over at Ilfracombe :rotfl:

I don't suggest venturing out near any of our rivers. Very pretty but deadly.

Very wise move informing about the spraying in advance
