We had the same day as you alfie, so I got a lot of hedging done. Hopefully, I lost a bit of the 3lbs put on over Christmas. :o

The Horse Woman next door has a lir dog. It's very good with kids and sheep, but it will leap up on people to greet them. I know from experience, it's pretty hard to stay upright when that happens! :rotfl:

Dozy flies, huh! Every year they try to hibernate in the van, but this year I was ready for them. After I saw them massing, I crept up at dusk and fired fly spray into the door panels and into all the heater vents. Result! :D

All was well; not even one fly in the cab on the way to Crediton some days later. I thought I'd cracked it. Then I went into the side door and about a dozen flies fell on me. I looked up and the whole of the top door surround was thick with them, dropping on me like ...er..... flies! There must have been 200, at least.

I had no fly spray with me, but I had some totally useless de-icer, so I sprayed them with that.. It was better at bringing down flies than it was for de-icing.

Could choille be in a Holiday Inn? ;)

Yes, probably. There's one solitary, surviving fly still in the cab, which I've allowed to stay. He's called Bruce 'cos he dies hard. :D

Well, lets hope he doesn't have a vengeance!
  • morning all,

talking about flies.... I will be doing a 'dying fly' now as I don't want to go back to work!!!!

Sounds interesting Alfie.. will have to try and get down to you..

Weather is we and windy, even though it is rough.. it has been worse, BUT we have been off work, so today might be a poo day in work...

going to 'sneak' another cuppa, and then off to work...

when do you think double glazing firms will be back in work ? Thursday or Monday??

Building trades generally don't do anything from Christmas until New Year, so I'd say Thursday.

We'd planned to do guttering repairs today but the hoolie out there makes that unwise. Particularly the drive back with metres of guttering sticking out the back window! So I'm going to read cake recipes instead I think, maybe make some marshmallows.

    Dull and dry today :)

Dave loving your fly story :rotfl:

LIR Sounds like a sensible plan for the day :D I would love to try making marshmallows as hubby and DD love them. They are also fans of Turkish Delight but I don't know how hard that would be to make?

CTC Chin up! Only a couple of days of work and then a couple off! Try to think of each day as a step closer to living full time at the ranch :D

I am at the hospital today to get Rumlet monitored. So hoping they give me dates today. I don't know if any of you have noticed but I am prone to being impatient :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
