One of the reasons I am in no rush to get a dog is because I know how attached I get to them. I have only ever had one dog of my own. I got her when I was 14 and she died when I was 28. She came to Polytechnic with me and I used to take her to lectures.

Having said that, I believe having a dog is a rite of passage for a child. It's looking more and more like it will be a Kerry Blue Terrier, although it's a close heat between that breed and a Bedlington. Either way, dogs will have to wait until all the building work is complete and we have sufficient funds. Pet purchasing and keeping is expensive!

We have had every kind of weather here today. The hail looked like snow aat one point. I hope it's better tomorrow as I want to clean out the chooks.

We're going to our neighbours for Christmas dinner. I get stranger each yar over the Christmas thing. I hope our kids are not too disappointed by the few presents they'll get tomorrow. I don't want to start a precendent of them having huge piles of presents that are opened and immediately discarded for the next one. I won't do the Father Christmas thing. I was raised a Muslim and I don't feel comfortable about it.

I am a bit of a Christmas humbug, although I do love the social side of it. It's the consumer frenzy I despise.
  • Just watching the national news... floods, blackouts... with power companies saying some places will not have power tomorrow in kent etc...

The rain is really bad with hail stones......

Managed to get some good reduced bargains earlier... so my freezer at home is now bulging.. so at least it will mean me being super frugal in the new year...to try and save money...

Seen the stonemason on my rounds of the supermarkets, and he said my window heads are ready, and all being well, with the weather he will be up the ranch on Friday...

This is the fab .. and shows that it works both ways when it comes to having a good tradesman on board...

Right turkey cooked, now its time for the beef, and our 'nibbles' for tonight...

    LIR any news ???

    I've been Money Tipped!
    Sorry CTC.

Yes she is here, home. Very whiney and miserable, cannot setrle at all. But alive. :).

She's got something to knock her out a bit later, we plan to give those at nine to give us a while to be with her while they kick in , but then the length of night while they are still working.

We get the salutation back from the biopsy analysis a week Friday......we know its cancer, we know we will not do chemo, all we are trying to assess is what likely hood of spread......

Slim pickings for me :( Went down to the supermarket 45 mins before closing and it was still rammed!

Only things I found were some salmon mousses at 50% off, a Caesar salad kit for 19p and some tubs of fruit salad for 9p, all of which will be used for supper tomorrow.

Hope you all manage to get some rest tonight, LIR. I know what it's like having a sick child x

Glad big dog went through her op ok LIR fingers crossed it has not spread. I don't blame her for being unsettled but at least she is safe at home surrounded by familiar things and people to fuss over her.

CTC How lovely to get bargains :D the supermarkets here are open on boxing day so unlikely there would have been anything worth going out in the rain for.

Rozee You and your family have achieved so much this year and although you are tired and fed up with caravan living the end is in sight and you are building an amazing future filled with animals and country living.

The weather here is still not great however it is just a wet winters day nothing too sinister or worrying. We have almost run out of milk and are currently debating who is going to draw the short straw and walk the 2 mins to the shop :rotfl:

Rummer pleased that you are a bit better & you shouldn't need any excuse to take it easy & be waited on hand & foot.

CTC - I've been sickened by some pretty nasty stuff here, but you just have to get on & do what you think is the right thing. We couldn't sell until we've finished the build but at times I've seriously thought about it.

LIR - My fingers & toes crossed for big dog. You've done the best possible thing & given him all the best you could. I do hope he pulls through.

Weather is wild here - lost he stove chimney stay things so OH was tinkering with that & we have it lit now. A few breakages with things flying off shelves - It's horrid & supposed to freeze. Never got proper light at all today & must admit I've slept rather a lot. The fields are flooded apart from higher up mounds. The place is a bog.

I'm having a last minute panic that the three small-ish presents we've bought for the kids, alongside the Coupon Book I've hand written for each of them with days out and treats, isn't going to disappoint them. Especially the son, who's just announced he wants a Wii (no chance). I shouldn't be looking at Facebook and all the friends' posts with mile high presents under a huge, spangly tree. I'm contracting Affluenza!

I have to remind myself that some of these parents get to spend a lot less time with their children than we do.

My DD is getting 3 books and a membership to Education City. That is what she asked for and I refuse to spend money on things that will be ignored after opening. Children value time and experiences over plastic toys.
