Had the police down in the caravan this evening as they had a report of suspicious behaviour.............

The police have failed to find the arsonists who set fire to the illegal encampment near here. You'd think it would be easy, but no one saw or heard anything. What a dull lot we are in this village! :o

The general concensus is: "They shouldn't have done it, but since they did, and no one was hurt, we're not sorry."

Meanwhile the clear-up has started. It will cost a lot. However, a little bird tells me that the land will probably be seized and sold to offset some of the costs. :p

WELL I am in the dog house with my mother........( wha'ts new)

I had a phone call from one of her friends asking me if she was 69 or 70 on her birthday.. so me being me said I would try and find out, so the git of the conversation with my mother ended up saying she would be 70 on her next birthday, me being me thought it ment this birthday, so all her friends who had organised a bit of gathering anyway yesterday.... arrange a surprise 70th birthday meal for her, with flowers, chocolates, 70th birthdays cards etc... of coarse my man didn't like to tell them then, she was only 69.... and I just had the phone call now from her saying she feels awkward and bad about it..... She is not the only one!!!!

Goodness CTC - talk about Foot & Mouth! It is funny though...........

What a night...massive thunder & lightening storm. The leccys off in the caravan but not the shed so we have a flex from there to here.

It went all night so not much sleep here. It's very wild.
  • Well the weather is getting a bit rough here now too...

Choille I would have been under the bed covers and pooping myself.. lol.. I hate storms...

Same here, but my thermometer is still reading 11c and it was dry from dawn till 5pm, so I'm not complaining......:)

Or perhaps I am, because when it blows like this the Aga's oven temperature drops considerably. :(

Our last 2013 delivery of paid-for logs arrived this afternoon. Now I must start saving some of those and cut up more of our own timber, which is drier .

Each year I say to DW that I won't be able to create much firewood, but already the pile at the field gate is growing nicely. :D

    Rofl choille,

Did you ask them to caution your errant lamb?

    Solstice!

Two fruit trees have arrived, I
Want to plant them, but we don't have gravel......whats the consensus on sticking some broken tiles underneath them? They are going in holes dug, um.....last year...and there is no doubt our holes are like little sumps. Knowing what I now know next time I will dig trenches , but its holes I have now, and thankfully that are way too deep, so I have loads of room for lots of drainage stuff then soil under the tree.....having watched over the year I think its not too much water compared to a trees needs in the future, so
Long as they are protected in their youth.

    Well, I hope anyway!

So, tiles? I have barrow loads of broken roof tiles.....

Well found my own missing lamb in a storm in a bramble bush just above the shore. Really awful electrical storm raging & half wondering why I was looking for what I thought must be by now a dead lamb.

I sent the person who I'm pretty sure called the police a Christmas card wishing them all the best & asking them to phone us if they have any concerns. And signed it your neighbour. It's one of those cards from Oxfam with the message on the back about Humankindness - Hope they take the message as sincerely as it was meant.
I thought that that was the best way to deal with it as I felt pretty sick about someone calling the Police in such a small community.

Shortest day (and raining all day at that :() so was cheered to see the first green shoots of spring bulbs showing in the large pot; days must now start to get brighter!

I was out to install yet another 15mm pipe to help drain the standing water from the flower beds.
