Ladies I could do all the planning and marketing
The problem I'll have is selling it.
Though, I am now ready to sell my bed in a cupboard. If its still in scalable condition. The problem is it weighs a HUGE amount. Anyone buying to collect would have to bring five men to lift it with them.
I have a feeling if I could sell one or two things on ebay, just a few things, I might get bitten by the bug?
I just cannot bring my self to try and put the first things on there!0 -
Oh I want a 1950s style kitchen in this design and colour!
OTOH, those of us who had those cabinets wherever we rented, may not be rushing to get another...... :rotfl:
Quietish day today. No workmen to watch. No apprentice in the thatcher's barn, doing whatever he does. No dogs barking (most of the time, anyway.) Sheep behaved. Not much wind. No rain.
Here is the finished road job. They constructed one grid chamber at the end of the pipe leading from the drain grid down the road. Whether water will actually run through the pipe between the two isn't known yet....
Raining now, so we'll soon see!0 -
http://www.boots.com/en/Aveeno-Cream-with-Natural-Colloidal-Oatmeal-100ml_1039288/
Its this one I think! I didn't know the range was so huge.
For cleanser I use avene (sounds similar, but isn't the same, but also from boots) . I infact only found aveeno because when skin was really bad I asked resident parent to get me some avene a tiredness cream and they came home with the aveeno stuff and its better.
I'll admit, my skin isn't as 'dewy and radiant' magazine skin as at its very best, when using it twice daily but its no longer flakey, crocodile like, red sore skin like when its bad. During a flare or this weather I'm not tempting fate by trying for great skin by trying other stuff if I have 'good ' skin on this.0 -
Congratulations Isme
We have no children (through choice) but I do like being an auntie (two or three times a year when they visit!). Lovely to see them but a big sigh of relief when they go homeMy SIL loves dressing the boys up, and sends me photos of them which always make me smile. The youngest was born in December (5 years ago) and was dressed up as Christmas pudding when the family went out for his first Christmas meal.:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
Not much to report here. Have been sneezing away, immune system probably a bit depressed following a stressful few weeks/months. New cleaner started today and she did a good job,so nice to have a clean(er) house although I may have to up her hours as the place is so grubby.
Sweep coming to clean the chimney next week - DH excited about getting a fire going for Christmas. Need to buy some logs or briquettes.
Caught up with our 'window man' and he is going to pop round and give us a quote for replacement windows and doors. He did quite a bit of work for us at our previous house, so we know he will do a good job. Nothing is done in a hurry though...this is Suffolk after all
Good grief, I need a gas mask, what have those dogs been eating????:eek::eek:It is a good idea to be alone in a garden at dawn or dark so that all its shy presences may haunt you and possess you in a reverie of suspended thought.

Well, guys, if anyone sees any gorgeous sinks on eBay soon, think of us. The more I think of it, the more I like the idea of something commercial looking and highly functional.
LIR your kitchen is definately along the lines of how I envisage our kitchen to be. The rooms have been skimmed now and I went in to have a look this evening. Any gripes about the building work fade when I see the potential of the place. It's going to be a fabulous space.
Our kitchen is open plan. Really there will be only kitchen along one side/L shape. The rest will be lounge area/dining, but I want to keep the furniture down to a minimum. We have both a pantry and utility room adjoining the kitchen, so the food, anything not used daily will go in the pantry and the laundry will all take place in the utility room.
I saw one of those old 1950s kitchens on Preloved last night. Must find the link.0 -

Its a bit messier now! The butcher block is on the back wall with my cooker, and there is a chest of drawers behind the alter. :rotfl:
Oh, and its been painted. I forgot how lovely it looked the plaster colour, warm.
Beautiful furniture LIR. Take it the alter is for sacrificing people on and that sort of stuff..........? They have bits of church stuff at a great place we pop into where I got my huge cupboard from - mind you it's a church, but they reclaim/salvage stuff & it's cheap.
I love the fridge. It's probably bigger than our present bedroom & sligtly warmer. Although is still weirdly mild here.
Today the moon was out at 3 pm and there was really low patches of cloud & everywhere looked silver in colour - I should take more photos.
Rummer - My Mother had those cabinets in her holiday bed sits, some had canisters & a pull out enamel board for chopping on.
The American do a daddy version - as they would, & they sometimes appear on Ebay, but the shipping would be ridiculous.
CTC - the dry skin thing is a menace. I have just been at a dermotologist as I've been wrongly treated for 8 years! I've been on proper stuff now for nearly a fortnight & what a difference.
I tried the Aveeno stuff & it's good too.
A lot of the stuff/moisturisers that I've been prescribed contain liquid parafin & that really hydrates your skin fast. I have this stuff called dermamist & it's a spray of it & it stops the dry itch that drives you nuts. I'm amazed at what a difference it's made not feeling like using a wire brush on my leg.
I have to watch biological powder, but I don't use that, so not a problem, but that makes a lot of folks dry rashy skin much worse.
Long nights & still the stormy winds forecast. I think most of the exposed building paper is up in the trees or on the Isle of Skye by now.
I had a nicely stacked bonfire that's now strewn down in the wood. Like bleeding tumbleweed...............It's the Wild West yeeeehawwww0 -
Oh I want a 1950s style kitchen in this design and colour! A friend of my grans has this style of kitchen which was actually fitted in the 50s and I LOVE it. Sadly I can't see us ever affording a new kitchen so I will just have to make do with my 70s painted over beige monstrosity
i had one of those ! bought it at a garage sale [it was at the back of his tool shed and not really for sale] paid £20 for it ...sold it for a lot more...:o
ive got a fab unit for CTC. enamelled top cupboard with lead lined bottom drawer [of 3] and cupboard.:D0 -
I got the alter on ebay. Alfie and DH and I went to pick it up. DH had to travel in side the alter like a mummy in a sarcophagus in the back of Alfie's van on the away back
.
The rest is ebay or old stuff I have begged or already owned.
Fridge is a John Lewis own. Its the only fridge ever ought, and I expect it to be one of only two I ever buy.0 -

I think that if you can put things together like that it's more satisfying & much cheaper & you can shift it about if it doesn't work. I've had an eye opener going into a few places that do the fitted kitchen Jobbies. They don't like to tell you the price - It's all a mystery as they want to design it - some plooky 20 something wants to design MY KITCHEN........0 -
