CTC, bring some of that work ethic over my way will you?
Don't do too much to your beautiful sitting room. That picture you posted with a fire going looked a rustic idyll. Just stunning, Some of your blankets, some rough linen upholstered mismatched furniture and you have something out of one of the most amazing interiors books in the world.
Another Mse chum once linked to a house for sale in the midlands where everything was crooked and bent and rustic and I almost a wept with envy. I wish we could have moved there.0 -

That is the plan LIR... TOTAL rustic, basic... we will have one room downstairs with carpet etc.... I am looking for total rustic/worn out furniture to go into the 'rustic room'
Have you got a link to the house in the midlands? or was it too long ago?Work to live= not live to work0 -

With a wall light I love and wanted two for my bathroom but was t00 much this summer ( 700 each I think, I needed two.....) but I saw the room and while didn't like the pieces but for the f
Orr and outs liked the whole. Thought of your place with the floor.

When does the sun come round Choille? I think this time of the year just makes everyone want to curl up and sleep...
LIR..... I wish!!! 'IF' I ever won the big one ( need to remember to buy the tickets lol) I know who will be the ones I write the cheques too...( winks)
Just come back from Wyevale.. and bought a large pot od some sort of sedum, and a large pot of mix of 3 house leeks, reduced to a £1 each... I wanted to buy some nice chutneys etc there, but they were a bit expensive.... so I didn't bother...So went to poundland and spent a fortune on crap...hahahaha, well sone of it anyway, doing a food hamper again for MIL and parents, so bought some empty Christmas tins, which I will fill with Tesco basic toffees etc, which will be a cheap filler for their hampers...
right off to put the kettle on...I am gagging for a cuppaWork to live= not live to work0 -

Rhiwie... is everything ok?? you have been a bit quiet lately...
We're fine, just been a bit stretched with DWs trips to M/C re MIL, babysitting, crimbo sales and countless trips to doctors/hospitals re DS2 who has had a rare and very severe, possibly permanent, reaction to prescription medicines
I'm just pleased that many of you are getting on with building the dream.0 -
Thank God for the Ixworth. We've only had her a week and she's already laid two eggs. The most eggs we've seen in about three months!
We bought her because Ixworths are great for meat and they lay lots of eggs - they are only second in line to the most prolific layer for a pure breed, a Light Sussex. She's proving her worth already. The plan is to incubate about twenty eggs next season, keeping the pullets as layers and the cockerels for meat.
She's also great sport. She is the cluckiest, squawkiest chicken I have ever encountered. I'm assuming this is because she is just starting out laying, as she's also the Araucana c0ck's favourite girl at the mo and they keep going into all the coops making nests together. It's very sweet.
CTC, and all of you who have renovated, I'm trying not to be annoyed with the builders. Is it just me? There have been a number of instances where they seem to do things without thinking or questioning. I don't understand it.... Door frames looking totally odd, not using common sense where plans aren't entirely clear. Argggh!0 -
Rhiwie.... don't forget we are not too far away from you, so if you need anything please do not hesitate to ask...
Rozee, I have only dealt with the stonemason, and the fencer so far, and they are friends, which potentially could have been a bit awkward 'IF' things wern't done to what we wanted... We are lucky because we are singing from the same hym sheet on the ranch... But in reality we have only just started scratching the surface with it...and might get problems with other tradesmen later on..
What might be happening, if you have a 'general' builder doing most of the work.. as he has been on this project a long while, and it has gone over the November date, he might be just rushing to get out of there...
If its not right, TELL HIM... unless the walls are not straight etc, then realistically the door frames should be straight, and finished off nicelyWork to live= not live to work0
