3 rd series of Game of Thrones not out till next year. Must admit I enjoyed the books up to book 3 and then had to really think as there were so many characters. There is another book in the series but its not being published until October 2014.
I'm going to the large secondhand bookplace today. I use it a bit like a library, read them, take them back and get a credit for them. I'm going to get my mum some books.
She's moved care homes and seems more settled in this one. My sister otoh is being a complete pain. So much so that I'm going to a meeting on Friday to discuss whether she should be on the POA. I'm absolutely dreading it, my stomach has been in knots, not sleeping and other horrible symptoms of stress. I couldn't face work yesterday as I felt so dreadful.

There are down sides......I have read more pap on e book than I thought people had the possibility to produce. Please, please I wish people would learn its not true that everybody has a book in them. Before ebooks there were very few bos I had not got to the end of because I felt it was worth a clue of hours of my time. Now with e books I have realised, it really is not. The role of the publisher is increasingly going to be important as a trend setter and finder of excellence......I think the former they are succeeding at, but I wish they would succeed better at the latter.....!
I'll echo that...I've read some absolute **** on these free e-books and thought "There are a lot of people out deluding themselves (or us) that they can write when they so obviously cant". Mind you....it can happen sometimes in bought "paper" books too (if not nearly so often). I don't think I'll forget the "economy" (so-called) book for leftovers that I had to order and buy sight unseen (as it wasn't on the bookshop shelves) and the number of those "economy leftovers" recipes that featured things like venison. Maybe on the planet the writer lived on then venison would come under that heading:rotfl:. Fortunately, the bookshop saw my pov on that one and refunded me the cost.:) It WAS one of those self-published books....0 -
I have come a cropper on some paper books, as it has had an interesting title, on a subject, like recycling, reducing costs etc, but when you read it, its all VERY basic stuff that everyone knows...
It was a hard frost last night, and its only now thawing out in some places...
Going to do a bit of research on the bay while having a cuppa, I get loads of jewellery in, mainly modern carp.. but I was thinking maybe if I package them nicely... they might sell??? I know it is a bit late to grab full advantage of the chrimbo market, but might be worth a go...Work to live= not live to work0 -

Venison can be very 'economy' around here, if you know the right people.
Unfortunately, we don't like it, or our nearest 'supplier,' who goes under another name on these pages. :rotfl:0 -

It can be very 'economy' round here too - likewise pheasants, partridges etc :rotfl:
It can be lovely, but I have also had some that was tough and very strong tasting. That reminds me, I have a loin joint in the freezer that has been there a long time. Perhaps I will get it out and cook it (it promises to be the 'nice' kind) - but not till we have finished the coq-au-pheasant I made the other day

'Economy' venison can be fine but it really pays to know exactly where it comes from.
Choille & I had a PM discussion on this not too long ago.

Venison was my favourite meat but I fight shy of it more now. Not that we eat much meat, anyway.0 -

Let me know how you get on, I've a similar need. I've sold little collections of costume jewellery and it seems to go well, though no great prices. Even broken pieces can be useful for crafters/designers. Watch out for the older stuff, there can be real value and knowing you, you'll have a magnifier to spot any hallmarks!
Been doing research on a silver and black enamel Art deco studs/links set. See one almost identical sold on a website for £180 . Dont think I'll get that on the Bay
Dont think youve missed the crimbo sales, its just steady here atm. But last year Christmas day was one of our busiest, as bored parents shopped in the afternoon and early evening :rotfl::rotfl:.
January was really good as well, probably because the crimbo bills hadn't hit the credit card repayments.
DW away again, this time a weekend sleepover looking after the GDs while parents have a weekend break. DW made a short trip back here this morning for an injection of relative sanity
. They are off atm to the christmas tree festival at Holy Cross Church, while tomorrow its the Reindeer parade so the town will be full to bursting . 0 -
As I sell mainly clothes etc, I don't know what my sales will be like after Christmas..I know when I started off on the bay.. the weeks after Christmas, was as good as the lead up for sales, and then end of Jan - middle of Feb, it dropped like a sack of poo... then picked up then, when the nice spring weather started...
So far it looks as though broaches sell, as you say Rhiwie, not big bucks, but those quiet little sales add up quite nicely, especially if you can photogragh them on a tray on your lap etc... then you can list them while watching tv..:D was thinking of doing a standard BIN price of around the £2.99 including free p&p for the modern earrings, neckleses etc..Work to live= not live to work0 -
