Summer fencing down, half winter fencing UP. Left DH finishing it off, I got a bit dizzy so came in for a a CTC (cup tea cancelledbiscwit).
So good to see the sun.
Bull is out with the cows next door and the ruddy girl dogs of ours were chasing the herd through the fence, then the titch boy got let of the lead (swaps is with lead because dog dog in season) and the heard chased him, lol).
Then they moved arou d with us taking fencing down and narrating in snorts and snuffles what we were doing, then charging at the dogs every now and again.0 -
choille - If the doors are no good & the problem can't be overcome it would still be possible to still use the carcassing & either change the doors or use curtaining ..... or a mix of both.
Our Freeview is down at the moment. The aerial is at the top of the hill & we've got to get up there to see what's happened. A roof aerial wouldn't work for us because of the hills. No signal for either TV or mobile makes it past them. So, it's just Sky for the time being.
rhiw - Being totally thick I had to look up CFL.
Having decided you weren't plugging in the Canadian Football League I worked out it must be Compact Fluorescent Lighting. They look like 'Energy Saving' bulbs (as opposed to LED but are, presumably, different?
On the subject of energy saving ......
Did anyone see this article?

I hope they aren't planning on getting their money back :eek:0 -

:rotfl: I've no idea but, having Googled the guy's name, I fancy it has more to do with publicity to attract future business for himself than any real money-saving venture.

I certainly wouldn't pay over the odds for that house if it came on the market - even with the presumed energy-saving measures.0 -
The temp has plummeted here today  and there is still thick white frost all over the pavements and grass. I was delighted though theta the heating didn't need to go up any higher and the house is still comfortable
We are going to take the car to a local park so that I can get some fresh air and a change of scene, as much as I love my home I want to look at something else for an hour.
Hubby started prepping the nursery so fingers crossed it gets done soon. He has also been selling loads on Gumtree which is greatmuch less faff and cost than ebay but only certain things seem to sell.
Taking responsibility one penny at a time!0 -

If she does show up again, then you could perhaps adjust your house clock to show the "wrong time" too perhaps...enough to even the balance out. Followed by being absent from whichever room she is in, so that she has no-one to waste time "talking to"..
I expect she has figured out how to make sure she gets paid for 2 hours, whilst only actually working for 1-1.5 hours. I've had similar stunts played on me before I got wise to them..
Thanks money, actually I think it has been going on for a while, I cottoned on before the clocks changed. I am cross at myself for not noticing earlier. I am in bed most of the day (this is a bungalow) and it is difficult to escape and chivvy her along when she starts chatting as I am usually exhausted. For us it is a luxury having a cleaner (paid for from DLA) but recently it has been more hassle than its worth.
Most of her clients are at work when she cleans, and I think she has got into some bad habits with regard to time keeping. Now she knows I keep an eye on the time she just works a lot more slowly now, but as we are moving from this rental soon I could really do with the additional work being done. I will ring up the franchise on Monday and see if they can send me someone else. Could really do without the hassle though.
Mr BD is sorting out the garage ready for the move, but lots still boxed up from when we moved last time. He has packed up everything he can in the living room. :A. Kitchen next.........
Itismehonest that is an interesting film. If he is setting up a business he may be thinking he can carry forward the capital cost to set against any future business profits.
Pleasant day here, chilly but sunny, Mr BD has put the washing on the line, it is getting a good blow but not sure how dry it will getConsidering what is going on in the Philippines we are extraordinarily lucky with our weather here, they are saying on the news over 2,000 people are missing and 10,000 feared dead. It is difficult to imagine how you start looking after all the displaced people and rebuilding the infrastructure.
It is a good idea to be alone in a garden at dawn or dark so that all its shy presences may haunt you and possess you in a reverie of suspended thought.

A very long time!!!! And even longer if his systems need regular maintenance or have a limited life.
There is so much that can be done to cheaply reduce the need for heating, but the sky is the limit if you want to eliminate heating bills entirely. At some point it becomes more about eco bling than energy saving. There is no way we could justify retrofit of ASHP/GSHP or heat recovery systems
Rummer, you're right about the Bay being a faff, but is a very effective way of selling many items. Went to a car boot this morning but not as lucky as last time, loads and loads of tat, the dealers must have cleaned out the good stuff while I was still fast asleep in bed0 -

I think that describes it exactly, rhiw.
Please talk lightbulbs to me. We have been looking at different bulbs (have had a mix of ordinary, halogen & ES for yonks) but find it all a bit confusing now to be honest.
BD - You could well be right about hoping to offset the cost against his business.0 -
Gosh, well, very frustratingly the strummer AND the chainsaw aren't playing ball and both need to go in for a bit of tlc.
Still, front is tidied up, fencing done. Annoying to not start breaking the back of that oak though. Perfect day for it.0 -

Four types, percentages are energy saving compared to incandescent (though waste heat energy can help with heating to a small degree)
Incandescent
Halogen (30%)
Compact Fluorescent Lamps(CFLs) (80%)
Light Emitting Diode (LED) (90%)
Dont compare light levels using wattage (energy used), use lumens instead (light brightness measure)
Costs are greater for the energy saving bulbs but, with exception of halogen) they last very much longer, prob 10 years.
Atm, CFLs are prob the best mix of cost/saving but LEDs are prob the lighting of the future.0
