my sister and i are getting my mum 2 guinea pigs and hutch etc for xmas.we always had GPs as kids and she mentioned it the other day when we suggested taking in an older dog as she hates returning to a silent house but realise its too much commitment at her 82 yrs young !! we thought a friendly squeek would help

Rummer glad they know what is the matter & will be attended to soon.
Bright here after incredible torrential rain throughout the night. Quite a bit of snow gleaming on the tops. It's cold but at least the rain has stopped.
Got a really poor price for the lambs so was sickened about that, but will have to get over it!
Glad you're busy selling Rhiw - I have found it very poor with not many page views even - must look elsewhere for selling stuff.
Got offered some kitchen units yesterday - they aren't very nice, but I'll paint them.
Anyone have any thoughts what will look good with dark blue rayburn - thought a flat sort of grey colour.
Just had someone on the phone whose been gathering cones - they say it's a bumper crop. They are collecting for seed. I think it's a bit complex re they have three stages & you have to get it right as they aren't always fertile......if my dusty memory serves me right.
The leaves are fairly coming off now & all the hill has turned ginger - rather stunning on a bright day...and I'm off into it again - doing, 'I'm a lumber jack & I'm okay....' .stuff.............................0 -

Amazing pets so interactive, I really miss having them. Is there no way your mum could have them indoors? They cope better inside and would be really good company for her. The cages are around the same cost as hutches.
We have a section under our stairs that we use and it is much easier than going out in the snow to clean themTaking responsibility one penny at a time!0 -

Grey sounds über chic. Beautiful. but in the same vein I have this colour which is just a bit warmer in our bedroom. http://www.farrow-ball.com/calluna/colours/farrow-ball/fcp-product/100270. Its grey enough not to be pastel and Alfie gave us a picture which has a lot of royal blue in it (and pinks) and the blue against the warm mauvish greyish mist colour sings. With out the pinks it would be very chic, like your flat grey, but warmer and a little more misty and more embarrassing in the flat of winter. A glass of malt whiskeyrather than a slap of vodka iykwim. Depends what your poison is!
(They have a darker purple which we are painting our bedroom window woodwork, leaving the stone mullions distressed and exposed having scraped them back but I think that would be heavy with royal blue...but I am a huge fan or non white windows, felt I couldn't do it outside here, or to any of the sashes. Just felt wrong here, but feels ok in that room, so its where I'll start.)
But both options would be environmentally sympathetic.to your landscape. Or you could go with moss and lichen colours, but I seem to remember you are a blue woman rather than a green one.
I'd accessorise it with other greys and blues and even heathery purples and moss colours. (Door knobs). Some of those heathery coloured wools would make amazing curtains or blinds if you can get some cheaply in those sort of colours, maybe, if you think its too cold and you feel bolder, with a shot of honey/whisky or pheasants back goldy just hitting it.
What ever you decide choille I think you'll make it beautiful.0 -
LIR We have that colour (well a version of it) in our living room and it would be gorgeous with blues and purples.
I love heathery colours and would have the house full of themTaking responsibility one penny at a time!0 -

Its a good colour. I've used it instead of white (not that version either) before, I usually use colours instead of white.
E.g, I store my 'jewellery' in a cupboard I call sparkly corner, now against the same colour wall, but previously against a cream wall, Its that colour...I'll see if I can dig out a picture.
Does anyone know the cartoon Madeleine? That sort of just purple is used as a neutral instead of white in that and it was inspirational to me
Edit....sparkly corner, not great for colour though, hopefully you'll see in practise its not too 'pastel' and thus is a good foil to the ' fussy pink fake flower tat' I have going on there ATMThe off white thing next to it is far more 'jarring' on the eye. Its one of the reasons I'm wary of white, Its funny I've done a white a nd grey bathroom really, because I never do white. I'm also thinking of doing our en suite white with lots of colour, but on a white background. But it would be a huge leap for me. If I could do it on a background like that it would be much quieter.

i was thinking for choille to see how a dark grey/blue looks.0 -
LIR - lovely colour that. I'd not thought of one so light - being a mucky pup. I have some Oak furniture that will be in there too. I got 4 arts & crafts dining chairs the t'other week for £45. They are covered in red cloth which I'll whip off & recover - hark at me I don't even have a whole roof on or walls, but I have to keep dreaming as I'd go mad this Winter.0
