It's nice to know I'm one of the select few! :D

I'm sure it'll soon pass. The irony is, like Alfie, I [STRIKE]never[/STRIKE] hardly ever get flu.

I think the queue experience points up an essential difference between the little town and our village. In the town people are certainly friendly and always say, 'Hello,' but it's born out of politeness.

In the village, everyone knows everyone else, and there's absolutely no standing on ceremony, so joking and relaxed conversation is the norm, no matter who you are.

It's probably why we have a Panto and they don't, despite having far greater numbers and superior facilities. :A

I know what you mean, Dave.
Mind you, I guess it depends on what one means by village. It's only the bigger places around here that have surgeries. Our doc's is in what is classed as a town ...... for Council purposes, anyway.

Commiserations on the allotment, but you have done the right thing at the right time Rummer. It is one less thing to worry about & you'll have your hands full. It's a kind decision as it lets someone up the queue, but a hard one too for you.

Dave I think you don't get a side effect from the new flu jabs apart from a sore arm now. You may have picked up a bug at the surgery - unhealthy places.

Alfie sorry about your problem buyer.Thankfully they are thin on the ground & you just have to report them & go through the process.

Sorry - just jumping in again as it's been a bit of a strange time lately jumping through hoops of shoite at the mo. Have to go to Inverness for meeting with SERAD re overclaims that I was unaware of doing & going on their officers advice - so a stressful day as such ahead... I suppose but one I haven't overthought as there's so much other shoite happening!
Incredibly wild night out there with hail storms & strong gales - temp seems to have plummeted.

OH has spoken with roofer and asked that he comes & finishes roof & comes when he says he will. He & his son are supposed to be here MONday - but I will not be holding my breath, nor tongue - I will have to be OUT that day as I am so fed up with all the promises & lies & mucking about. I couldn't believe how much we've spent on trying to get them on the phone.

Friday I'm at physio - so that sounds promising & I also am being referred for x Rays - 2 months later...............You have to shout now & threaten to complain formally. I hate this new society where everything seems a bureaucratic battle with you having to be constantly on the attack, alert etc - If that makes sense?

Gawd, we're a barrell of laughs, aren't we?

I've just gone through our building schedule (the finance bit) with OH and admitted that I have completely lost my way with it. There have been so many additional items and ommissions since we had to replace the roof and the two Quantity Surveyors don't make it easy to understand the way they do it. Feeling a bit battered and bruised as I like to be on top of things.

Despite the weather and the money and the fact that we are resolved to spending the best part of another Winter in the caravan, I am staying grounded. A local family buried their ten year old son this week after a long illness. That knowledge really puts my meagre troubles into perspective.

Alf, get through to CS in Dublin and ask for the neg to be removed given that case was resolved in your favour.

Choille, it does seem that way at times, particularly with big bureaucratic organisations who hide behind their walls of policies seemingly to avoid giving a service. Equally, with society getting ever more litigious, many of those rules were set up in response to the threat of litigation. My son is an ER doctor in NZ, and its a sad fact of life that when someone dies while in hospital, some relatives see it as an opportunity to sue :(

    Shoeboxes allowed again for RM small parcels from Monday 28th (max sizes RM Small parcels: wide 35 x 45 x 8cm, deep 35 x 25 x 16cm) :j.

    OTOH I've got 150 boxes 6" x 6" x 6" that met the now defunct criteria :rotfl::rotfl:

    alfie!!!!!

Can you keep your eye put for some old tipping trailers for me? Need to be weather proof to leave in field and leave muck in, but not nectar rile road safe.....though a decent one to collect stuff in would be good. They are for poo picking, wheel barrow sized or bigger ok, but need to tip!

Or maybe lucielle too? What would be the cheapest I could get in the sort of plastic type? Like big plastic towable barrows new? Do you sell that kind of stuff or is it out of your market? They all seem really expensive, I saw a second hand one for 250 last summer.:(

    Hi LIR

I'm not sure what to recommend, I've heard Logic are good but the price tag is a bit scary. Will put my thinking cap on.

It does. To me. One of the reasons I keep dropping out of medical treatment is its too exhausting to keep alert as to what's happening and why and defending my position. I just find it too exhausting when even getting to the hospitals is a drag so go back to bed or the garden and it hasn't killed me yet :rotfl:.

Morning. I feel better after 8 hours solid sleep, which is unheard of for me. :)

Looks like a passable day out there, but I hear that there's some concern about the weather on Monday.

All our hens are in together, as the Marans have joined the main flock. They are skittish things that flee from human contact. The cockerel is handsome and quite a wuss at the moment, but unless the females lay some amazingly dark eggs, I can see a trio heading for Hatherleigh next spring! :rotfl:

If they've rebuilt it by then ;) OK fowl are not sheep, I know.

Sorry to hear of more hassles, alfie.

I'm sure you've made the right decision, Rummer.

choille - I constantly witter on about how unnecessarily hard (as in time-consuming) sorting out everyday life has become. If it's not having to deal with Bangalore call centres, it's automated phone lines which keep you waiting for hours, someone blaming a computer, deliveries /collections which never turn up on time..... the list goes on. Add 'the powers that be' to the equation & it just becomes a total nightmare. Good luck with the meeting & the roof.

I'm sure there were others I meant to speak to but ....... brainfade. If I've missed you my apologies :o
